Tommee Tippee Closer to nature Bottles
The moment I saw these bottles I thought that they looked really smart and as I had an Amazon voucher to spend I thought I would invest in a couple and see how they faired compared to the more widely used baby bottles made by Avent. I already had a few Avent bottles given to me from a friend and I just had to buy some new teats for them so comparing the two was easy.
I paid around £10 for three of these Tommee Tippee bottles that hold 260ml and that price includes the postage and packaging costs, minus that it would have cost around £8. Now this compared to Avent is probably slightly cheaper as I have recent bought some of my own large Avent Bottles and I paid £15 for four from Boots, so buying Avent it works out a little more expensive.
These Tommee Tippee bottles are called closer to nature and this is because they have a super soft silicone teat that is said to resemble to breast as much as possible. This I suppose would be very handy if you were breast feeding as well as bottle feeding and perhaps expressing your own milk and using one of these bottles would make it much less confusing for the baby being fed. I however have not breast fed at all so the fact that they are said to be as close to a breast as possible really has no affect on me or on baby jack.
These bottles can be used from birth and have an easy hold design that I expect is meant for the child rather than the parent. The shape of the bottle merely has a smaller bit in which to hold on to and this I think would be good for when the child is able to feed themselves. When I use these bottles now this shape probably has more of a negative affect rather than a positive as with the large Avent bottles I am able to hold Jack in my left arm and also hold the bottle with my left hand, leaving my right hand to do other things such as read a little, drink something of my own or generally free to scratch any body part that may need a good itch!!! These Tommee Tippee bottles however have the shape where this is not really possible for me to do along with the fact that because the teat is much smaller and more flexible that if I do try and do this the teat will invariably fall from Jacks mouth or slide to the side where he cant really get a good suck. So when using these bottles I am having to use my left arm for holding and my right for feeding leaving me able to do anything else!
The bottles are said to have a unique super-sensitive anti colic value that in my personal experience did not help with Jack getting colic, however I have been using both these and the Avent bottles so maybe if I stuck to just this type then he could not of got the colic.
The bottle came with a teat flow number 1 which is the slowest feed teat available but compared to the Avent teat number 1 I still found these a little faster flowing. As Jack has been such a hungry baby we have had to give him rather large bottles of feed and the teat 1 on Avent was far to slow for him to get the right amount without him falling asleep so we changed for the teat number 2 fairly soon however we didn’t need to change the teat with these bottles until fairly recently when we have upped his feed yet again! (He’s on the 95th centile for height weight and head circumference, which means he’s going to be a big boy!)
Ok, so to come to some conclusion about these bottles. Well all in all I think I do prefer to use the Avent bottles. Jack seems to feed better when using those and it is by far easier to hold the bottle and him with the Avent ones. Even though these Tommee Tippie bottles may be slightly cheaper I really don’t think they are better value as in this case you really get what you pay for.
Because the Avent ones are more popular you will find it far easier to get teats for the Avent bottles as opposed to the Tommee Tippee. The sterilisers that Avent do are perfect for the Avent bottles but fit less of these bottles in. Overall I would tend to say stick to the Avent bottles as these seem like a much better product to use.

These are used to clean the hard to reach areas of bottles, teats and other feeding equipment such as a breast pump or formula storage containers. Advantages: Helps Colic and Reflux problems that babies sometimes get Disadvantages: Bit expensive
...but they did sell these Tommee Tippee Healthcheck bottles which appeared to be similar to Dr Browns.
After just one use of them, I noticed my baby was feeding so much better. I was so happy because I felt that it was my fault that she wasn't feeding properly before.
The Health Check bottle is different to normal bottles on the market as the vent system prevents your baby from taking in any air during feeding, which is similar to breastfeeding. ... ...yet. However, I'm sure that Tommee Tippee Healthcheck bottles are just as good. My baby is now so happy and loves feeding time. She doesn't suffer with that much colic anymore. I still have to wind her now and again but it isn't as much as I used to. I love it as I can see that she's getting the amount she wants and doesn't have to suffer with that horrible colic anymore. All round, she's a much happier baby and that makes me a happy mummy. ...

I purchased a Tommee tippee Bottle brush it is double ended so there is a little brush on the opposite end for the teats which i find very useful for £2.49. But after two weeks of using the bottle brush it snapped in half i thought i had been using too much elbow grease and went and bought another one exactly the same thing happened about 6 weeks later this time, again went and bought another one, I gave up buying the tommee tippee bottle ...

i bought tommee tippee closer to nature bottle when my son was born they are designed to make feeding time easier and more comfortable for you and your baby. There are 3 different ways in which you can hold the bottle, cradled in the hand, held lightly at the bottom of the base or held like a traditional wide neck bottle but i found holding it at the neck of the bottle easier when i was feeding. the bottles come with slow teats which is designed ... ...mum's breast you can also get a medium flow teat and fast flow teats for these aswell as your baby gets older. they have designed this teat so that the transition from breast to bottle is easier as the baby is able to latch on to both in the same way. this bottles also has a teat with an anti colic valve on the side of the teat designed for optimum venting of the bottle during the feed so it is helping to reduce the risk of colic my son did not get ...

Advantages: Did wonders for my sons Colic Disadvantages: The rubber valve keeps popping off leaving son and sofa soaked in milk
...I did email Tommee Tippee who were extremely quick I must say to send two replacement valves but just when I think Ive replaced possibly two funny valves the others have given up. They are put on very securely so they dont fall off but they do anyway. I think theres a design fault and its so frustrating otherwise these without that fault would be well worth the money. ...

I originally bought the TommeeTippee closer to nature steriliser which came with the baby feedingbottles supplied "just incase" breast feeding didn't work out. I was attracted by the idea that they were supposed to be closer to the natural shape and flex of a breast, and the anti colic valve. The bottles were pretty much equivalent in price the the other brand name baby bottles but considerably more expensive than generic "own brand" bottles. In any event unfortunately I did end up breast feeding and ended up buying more TT bottles.
My daughter is still not the best feeder (6 weeks old now) and she really struggled with these bottles. The shape of the teet (the dome shaped base of the teet) made it very difficult for her to make a seal around it which made feeds very messy and fairly windy (despite the anti colic valve). As a mother it is confusing trying to decide which bottles to buy... When my son was born I decided to try TommeeTippee and found that they were fantastic! I started with half breast half bottle and my son made the daily transition from breast to Tommee Tipee bottles so easily... and midwife's say that you can't do this as they learn to suck different with bottles. Well TommeeTippee works!!!
The shape of the bottle allows extra comfort for the parent whilst feeding, the teet flow is excellent. The only down side is sometimes the teet's can collapse in whilst the baby is drinking. This is very rare and can be overcome by re-opening the bottle to realise the trapped air. ...

I'd already heard rave reviews about this product and when pregnant wasn't sure whether or not I was going to breast feed so bought a couple of bottles. Turns out I expressed into the bottles (using the TommeeTippee manual pump) I really like these bottles, the shape makes them easy to hold when feeding, the silicone teats are very soft and my baby latched easily after being on the breast for a short while.
The only problem/s i have with these bottles is that sometimes the anti colic valve sticks (which can be resolved easily by squeezing), also the teat itself 'collapses' every now and again (due to the silicone being so soft when warm). I have also noticed that after using for 5 weeks (cleaned in steam sterilizer) the mm/ fl oz markings are easily scratched off. Another problem was that when it came to 'normal' teats, baby had ...
You have to open the pack yourself lol. I mean really how can there be a disadvantage to this! Well maybe the teats could be a bit bigger but thats it!! (*)
