Tommy Hilfiger originally launched the fragrance True Star in 2004 with promotion by singer Beyonce. The idea behind this perfume was to portray the radiance and confidence of the star as well as her more personal and private side.
I have to say I am not a fan of Beyonce myself, in fact I would not generally be allured by a perfume promoted by a star, but after sampling this fragrance in my local cosmetics store I simply had to buy it.The bottle itself is very feminine, tall and slender and dipping at the centre. The glass is opaque with a hint of blue and the top has a chrome effect. Tommy Hilfiger say that the bottle was designed to resemble an award, being smooth and slender to fit into a woman's hand.
This fragrance is floral yet quite heavy, although not over bearably so. Tommy Hilfiger describe it has having contrasting florals and notes of toasted grains. The scent is strong and needs just 2-3 short blasts and will easily last the day without the need to re-apply. I have found however that the scent tends to have spicy after tones which are noticeable after a couple of hours.Overall this is a likeable, confident perfume but may be desirable to those who prefer a lighter fragrance.
