I dry my hair every day so I need a hairdryer that will be powerful and reliable. Having extremely thick hair it takes forever to blow dry and straighten so having a hairdryer which is of salon quality is really important to me. When my previous hairdryer conked out about a year ago I didn’t want to venture too far away from what I was used to so I settled for another Toni & Guy hairdryer and after a little looking around I liked the sound of this particular model.
Prices vary depending on where you look, but at the time of buying it it was fairly new out and I paid £35. You can pay around £25 now. Most hair dryers offer the same functions so I won’t bore you and write over excessively on the details as they are pretty standard. The main ones are the 3 different heat settings, this is handy as I use the hottest for me own hair (I know I probably shouldn’t!) but use the coolest setting for my daughters hair. There are only 2 speed settings (I had been used to 3) but to be honest I just want to dry my hair and quick so again, I only ever use one setting and that is the fastest speed.
The 1700 watt motor gives it a salon feel power, and I guess the different heat and speed settings are to be used to give you the look you want but I’m useless with styling my own hair and use a hair dryer to simply dry it and then straighteners or curling tongs to style it.
The cool shot button is handy to fix a style once you have finished it and although I only use this once in a while, it does actually work. Attachments that come with the hair dryer include a concentrator nozzle which is really slim and a diffuser which is really handy.
The hairdryer is quite compact in style. The previous Toni & Guy one I had was massive and quite heavy, but this one is lightweight and easy to handle while still giving the same effects. It has a hang up hook as well which I like although since we have moved a few months ago, I haven’t had the hook put back under my ‘beauty’ shelf, but it is a handy little extra that again gives it a salon feel. The 3 meter cord is another feature which is so worthwhile. I hate it when hair styling equipment such as straighteners / hair dryers etc. doesn’t come with a long cord, so this is really important for me.
In the box with the hair dryer is a handy little style guide full of hints and tips. I really liked this as a little extra, especially given that the product is from the well known salon Toni & Guy. I normally bin things like this but I must admit that I did spend an hour or two playing around with my hair after gaining some ‘inspiration’ from this little book!
All in all a great hairdryer that is light enough to take with you on your travels but versatile enough to use for day to day styling.
