Review of "Tony Hawk's Underground (PS2)"
The storyline is very good. The storyline starts off with you and your best friend Eric who live in a dump of a town and just want a shot at being somebody in the world of skateboarding. As the story progresses Eric betrays you. As you both rise to the top it ends with a final PRIVATE faceoff to see who really is the best skateboarder.
Story mode, The story mode in this game is the storyline i decribed before with many fun and challenging goals. You can pick from a few different story mode diffiuculties as well. Also in story mode you are free to skate around and do whatever you want as well as improve you skater's stats.
Singleplayer- Singeplayer mode lets you pick any of the maps you have unlocked and free skate around in them as well as do high score run and other fun minigames.
2 player. The 2 player is awesome. This slit screen game mode lets you free skate with one of your friends as well as play dozens of fun minigames such as king of the hill, highscore, Tagging (i think thats what it was called) and alot more. These minigames are fun and challenging as well as very competitive. I had great memories of playing 2 player with my brother all day.
Create/Play Goals- This lets you create goals- the goals aren't too advanced and is usally, collect the skate or combo letters and you get to choose where to put them Highscore and combo score. I was not satisfied with the create a goal.
Create a Trick- this lets you design your own trick by combining or shortening different presets. This is a very cool feature however i did wish the presets were better.
Create a skater- This lets you create the aperance of the character of your dreams however you do this in the beggining of the story mode. The character creation is very advanced with many presets and also lets you map your own face on the skater with Eye Toy. However face mapping is very hard.
Create a park- Create a park is yet another awesome feature, This let you choose a size of an empty park and place ramps, rails, buildings , walls ,stairs etc... anywhere you wany. You can dig the map down or build it up as well. As well as placing objects you can create goals in your park. The create a park is only limited by your own creativity.
Create a Deck- This lets you create a customized skaterboard, this isn't very useful because you only see your board under your skater's feet and when you pause the game. The create a deck has a few designs you can resize as well as letters nmbers,,etc.
There are a decent amount of maps to coose from each with its own perks.
The game also has Billions of trick variations and special tricks
The controls in this game are very simple and are the same as all the Tony Hawk's Series for Ps2. Also the controls are veryresponsive which makes the game much better. As well as skating you are also allowed to get off your board, run around, and climb houses and other objects
The soundtrack in this game is very good. It features Punk music,Rock, and hip hop. Although the songs used in this game aren't (or should i said weren't) to popular, the music is still great and some of my favorite songs today are based off of that game
The graphics aren't very good, however this game was created in 2004 so for a game that old the graphics will suffice. The poor graphics also give it that classic feel.
