From personal experience and being a very big THPS fan, I can say that this is by far the most addictive, most improved and best Tony Hawks game on the market. Tony Hawks has exploded onto the PS3 with a revamped version of the PS2 game Project 8. From personal experience and being a very big THPS fan, I can say that this is by far the most addictive, most improved and best Tony Hawks game on the market. Even as a "pick up and play" game it is very addictive as I have many friends who had tried this for the first time and have gone on to purchase the game themselves. As you start the game, you create a skater that is completely custom to how you want him or her to look in a way that no previous game has been able to manage. Then, in a completely free roaming world, you unlock goals and areas around the game that increase in difficulty as you progress. Once a certain amount of goals are completed, you can unlock additional areas of the Tony Hawks world that expand the huge free roaming gameplay area. As for the gamplay, it is far more realistic than any of the previous games, making for a much more real gameplay experience. Also, the Tony Hawks genre has been taken to another level with "nail the trick" where the player can depress both joysticks and it goes into a "slow mo" mode where the jocksticks control the skaters feet to create your own custom trick to make massive combos to get massive points.
The setup of the game is similar to the previous titles in the series, where you complete goals to unlock skaters and ocmplete the game. However, at different stages, there are "pro challenges" that have to be completed, as well as having to complete the goals at am, pro and sick levels. Each time you complete a goal, your rank will rise until you reach your target of number 1 skater. To achieve this, you have to find additional secret spots, gaps, grinds, as well as passing goals in order to reach the top, making the gameplay almost endless, though a little frustrating when you reach a goal that is almost impossible to attain the sick level on.
Graphically it is amazing to play on the PS3, with skaters looking more real than ever before as well as sickening bails and awesome slow motion clips allowing for an excellent gaming experience. The only glitch I have found so far is that players may sink into a small amount of the surroundings as they used to on the PS2, though these are very few and far between. I would definitely recommend the purchase of this game as it is good to learn the game and challenging for even the best Tony Hawk gamers, with multiplayer action proving to be ever more expansive with a massive choice of games though this is not free roaming as I would have hoped.
Advantages: Easy to pick up Disadvantages: Quite boring after a few hours
After only really playing Tony Hawks games with friends usually over a few beers and enjoying playing them, I thought it was about time i bought myself one. I saw this on offer form play.com for £17.99 for the PS3. It arrived, I played it for an hour and it seemed great, played it a second time and enjoyed it, by the thrid time i was starting to get bored. At this point i began to notice quite a lot of glitchs in game play and the graphics. I have ... ...and blocked inbetween a ramp and a wall all of which which needed me to re-start the game. The graphics are no where near the potential of the PS3, its a slight upgrade to PS2 graphics at best
The controls and game play are good, as well as the motion sensative stuff using the siaxis controler and some of the music in the game is excellent.
I do admit this is not the usual type of game that i play, however i found it repative and quite boring with ...

Advantages: Great design very easy to use Disadvantages: Keep on loosing it beacuse it doesnt need a cable
rumble effects on this controller. Sony initally said it would intefer with the movement sensative nature of the pad, however the new Dual Shock 3 conroller will have the rumble feature.
This controller is much lighter than the previous PS2 controller, great as far as i'm concerned.
The L2 and R2 buttons have been slightly modified to make them easier to use.
Motion sensative. This is not in the same league as the Wii, however it is very effictive in games like tonyHawk's Project8 for use when balancing, and the sensativity can be altered.
The Center button allows you to control the PS3. You can turn it on and off, quit a game and see the charge of the controller, all very useful
Overall
The basic design is great, it fits into your hands perfectly, all the button are easy to reach and after hours of playing i have had no ...
Advantages: It's a Tony Hawk's skating game. Disadvantages: It's a re-engineered Tony Hawk's skating game.
't the simple case of copy and paste with new levels and textures and animations. This title puts the dev team right where they were with TonyHawk's Pro Skater 3, the first PS2 release. This means that Project8 is the platform for sequels to be built on top of, and has it's limits. The choice of special tricks is terrible from the word go, create-a-skater has never been worse and even though the levels are all joined together there are still less of them than some would like.
Said massive conjoined levels are swell apart from during career mode because of the severe framerate drop for a couple of seconds when you cross a border. This isn't really too much of a problem, but if you happen to be in a combo that keeps straddling a border it can get a bit annoying and even topple you off your high score. If you want more proof of the game's rough ...
