Tony Hawks Proving Ground for the Wii....
Having only recently bought a Wii console I was a bit unsure as to what games to get that would have the best game play. Initially with the console I got more sport like games but because I purchased several of sport type games I was soon a little fed up and that took me to my local Game store where I swapped Mario Olympics for Tony Hawks Proving Ground (and Call of Duty).
...an additional £10 to get Tony Hawks and Call of Duty. I thought this a great deal.
The age rating on this game is a 12 so there is not really much blood and gore thankfully as it is only a skateboarding game! Now I have played many Tony Hawks games right from the first one released on the Playstation 1 and absolutely love them (I beat my partner half the time) and I hoped I would feel the same about this one.

Initially with the console I got more sport like games but because I purchased several of sport type games I was soon a little fed up and that took me to my local Game store where I swapped Mario Olympics for Tony Hawks Proving Ground (and Call of Duty).
The game was priced at £29.99pencebut luckily enough was on a boy one get one free offer so with the swap of my Mario game I only had to pay an additional £10 to get Tony Hawks and Call of Duty. I thought this a great deal.

The initial though of how to play the game was what was worrying me as the Wii is such an interacting console and with Tony Hawks, you are riding a skateboard I was really unsure as to how this would work. Fortunately, it was fairly straightforward and I was able to pick it up in no time.
The game is pretty much the same theme as all the other Tony Hawks games where as you can choose a player to be, or even create your own, get your style and then work your way up from beginner to pro. You have to skate around the game looking for tricks to pull off and tasks to achieve. The more tricks and tasks the more stats you get meaning you eventually become a far better skater and the harder tricks are easier to pull off.
The fact that you have to use the Wii remove control in all different ways gives the game play a completely new dimension and I really enjoyed this part. The graphics are pretty good although I am not the sort of techie that looks out for this sort of things and knows what bite I am looking for, all I know is the game looked good and felt real enough when in play.
You are now able to create your own tricks with this game, something that was not an option before. Alongside this there is also options to change the park around you giving you great ability to perform better tricks on the right type of space. This part of the new game makes it a worthwhile purachse on its own.
I have had this game a good few weeks now and I am nowhere near to completing it, as there seems to be so much that you can do and learn as a player and a skater. Overall, I would give this game a afour star rating. It is still not as exciting as when the game was first brought out back in the day but I do enjoy playing it and for the price I think it will give me hours of fun at a worthwhile cost.
RECOMMENDED!

Advantages: big areas to skate. New and improved. Nice graphics Disadvantages: not good if you're not into skating
If you've played other Tony Hawk games, you'll know that they're fun for a time, but only really for hard-core skating fans.
However, this one's a bit different. You see, it's on the wii, which means that the movement and skate control is a lot more realistic. In fact, you can even control one foot with the wiimote, and one with the nunchuk.
I would still sasy that if you're not into skating this isn't for you, but if you don't it then I'd recommend ... ...the same, except you can choose 3 paths as a skater.
Career - These skaters skate for prizes and money
Rigger - These skaters take whatever they see in the environment and use it to skate on.
Hardcore - These guys skate only 'cos they want to. Tearing through the streets, reaking havok wherever they go.
This is definately one to buy for the skating fan. The graphics and sound are sweet too.
Depending on how much of the game you want to complete ...
