Roller Tray

I bought myself a lovely little black plastic roller tray for when I painted out my back bedroom about two years ago now. It is black and plastic and I paid £2.99 for it and I think this was a fair price to pay because it comes in very handy. I got mine from Wilkinson’s. I think the roller came with it though I cannot remember properly now.

The paint tray is made from tough tick plastic and it has not cracked or broken and I have also used it to pour the paint in when I was repainting my chicken coup at the allotment about four months ago now. It is easy to use and I just pour the paint into the bit where it is a little bit deeper. I dip the roller into the paint very gently and then roll it out onto the shallow bit to make the paint spread out onto the roller properly. I keep hold of the tray with my left hand and I use the roller on the walls or the chicken coup with my right hand. My right hand is steadier.

It is a good-sized tray and it fits the roller I have perfectly. There are no drips and no mess and I find this is much easier to paint than the old fashioned way I used to with the tins of paint and the paintbrushes. My husband used to prefer the paint brushes when he was alive.

The only thing I have problems with is that when I have finished with the paint I find it does dry very quickly on the plastic and it irritates me that I cannot wash all the paint off the paint dish and I find it tends to look a mess, which is a shame. Apart from it looking a mess though I find the paint dish a really lovely idea and very easy to use and I would not go back to using the tins and the brushes now.
