Silverline Sledge Hammer

I have a very good 7lb sledgehammer in my shed. I have had this since my husband was alive and he bought it for himself as he needed to do some heavy work outside and he used to use it quite a lot. We paid about £15 for it at the time but this was a number of years ago now so I think they will sell for more money. It is a good quality sledge hammer and the manufacturer is Silverline.

My neighbour has borrowed my sledge hammer on a couple of occasions, along with a number of my tools, but he always brings them back promptly. I have used my sledge hammer myself when I was breaking up the flagstones from my patio because I was getting someone in to do some crazy paving for me. The man said the best way was to get broken slab stones and that I could save money by supplying these myself. As he had already lifted the flagstones up anyway it was very easy to break the slabs myself. These pieces I broke up myself were then used by the workman to make me lovely crazy paving patio area.

It is a seven pound hammer but it breaks the slabs very easily on contact without me having to put in a lot of back breaking work. The sledge hammer is well made and the wooden shaft is made of hickory. As is made of hickory wood, this is better for the user as it prevents there from being too many vibrations traveling down the handle when the head of the hammer makes contact with the concrete. The head is made of precision ground metal and it has also been heat treated. It appears to be very solidly fixed onto the handle shaft and overall very well made.

This sledge hammer has weathered well and has been left out in bad weather but it’s not deteriorated at all. It’s very well made and easy to use and I recommend it to you.
