What! Only 10 foods? Of all the MILLIONS/ BILLIONS of food products out there we can only pick 10? Well, I suppose you'd get bored by my 100th or so one..or tenth...

In no particular order; let's begin

1. Fish
-Smoked Haddock, Salmon, Cod, sea bass or tuna. Haddock is delcious in a pitta bread with scrambled egg or haselback potatoes. Salmon fillet is divine if you top it with mayo, crushed seasoned cornflakes with garlic and then drizzled with a cheese sauce. Smoked salmon slices mixed into mash with cheese spread! emm. And tuna, mix it with onion and some chutney to get fish fruity.
Make your own fish pie or chop it up into an omelete. Fish is sooo nutritional, versatile and delcious. Not a fan of sardines, herring; trout and the lark, or with heads and eyes still on!
Prawns - league of there own. Nice just out the pack with vinegar.

2. Potaotes
- Mash them; boil them; crush them; tin-foil them; chop them into sticks and turn them into chips; bake and split the skin and then tuck in!; Use peeled skins to make crispy potato things; wedges are ledges; new pots are tops; Dauphanaise - cheese divine; Hasselbacks - hands off their mine! Start 'le Matin' with France's 'potato gratin'.; dice into cubs and add to your stews...

If potato isn't one of the most versatile foods, as well as being one of my favourite foods (with a particular preference to jacket potatoes) then I don't know what is. There are hundreds of varities with different tastes and textures as if that wasn't enough! I am a fan of mashed/roasted sweet potato which I think I can safely put under the same category.

3. Butternut Squash
-You cannot beat roasted butternut Squash, either cookied into wedges and baked until crispy and caramelised, or stuffed with breadcrumbs and cheese. The sweet flavouris divine; the soft melt in mouth texture of the orange flesh to die for and the crispy skin heaven,

4. Cereal
- My life for a bowl of cereal. I have often contemplated living off the stuff though I think I'd miss my potaotes, bread etc... With all the varities out there you're never stuck for choice. Preference: 100% Weetabix!

5. Marmite
- Ah, the love hate debate. I need my mate Marmite. I get sudden marmite urges; the rich taste, spread thickly over a wholemeal pitta bread with soft cheese. Must always be wholemeal! Makes a lovely benfically nutritional change from my usual sweet snacks of pikelets and lemon curd; english muffins with apple sauce or pancakes.

6. Bread
- Self confessed bread addict. I bake it myself; tear chunks off loaves; eat a baguette plain (no butter, yuck); spread rustic slices with cheese spread/ jam/ lemon curd; fill Pitta's with scrambled egg or haddock or split them to make a pitta pizza. I think I was a duck in my past life, honestly. All bread based products aswell, so: English muffins; pikelets; cumpets; pancakes, bagels, hotcross buns...er....doughnuts? Can I sneak that in?
Yeast is my best friend; next to marmite of course

7. Honey
- Lifes sweet natural pleasure. I love it drizzled over weetabix or for dunking bread into. There's loads of variations and I have to admit, I'm a little fussy over taste. Some aren't that nice and I only like runny, not set.

8. Eggs
-Let me be more specific; Egg whites. I don't like the yolk, which is good really seeing as this contains all the fat and cholestrol. I eat about 6 egg whites a day; sometimes more! Scrambled, boiled, poached, omelete; quiche; based over potato slices for crispy homemade chips... they are so versatile. Combine egg whites with a helping of fish or chicken and it's a protein packed meal! Free Range of course.

9.Crisps
-I wasn't sure whether to class these under 'potaotes' to give myself an extra food to add but I figured there was too much to write about for crisps alone. I'm more of a savoury than sweet person and I can get my sweet fixes from other sources other than chocolate or sweets, such as honey, lemon curd and jam. Crisps are a weakness of mine. Crickled; chip sticks; doritoes; puffs; skips; quavers; pringles...I think I like just about every single variety out there. My favourite has to be Doritoes cool original/ tangy cheese. After that, flavour wise is usually cheese based (cheese and chive/onion/ cream cheese).

10. Ohhh, what to choose? Hmm, jelly? Yogurt? ohh it's hard. No let's go the opposite way - CHICKEN!
- I suppose I need a nice meaty product in there to get your teeth into! Chicken is also so versatile (Have you noticed I've picked all the versatile foods? - It's because I do homecooking). I like to make homemade chicken nuggets; plain chicken, cut in half and stuffed with soft cheese then wrapped in bacon; seasoned with spices; cut into strips for fajitas; chargriled and added to salad; homemade chicken kebabs with pitta bread; curries; rissotos; casserole - honestly, I don't know what I'd do without the humble chickwn. Must be free range though.

Don't get me wrong on all the above; I love all my fruit and veggies and puds and chocolate etc.... but this is only 10 foods and I tried to pick a nice mixture to show I like variation!

Well there you go. I noticed I've picked out mainly 'goodies' rather than 'badies'. I still love the occassional cake and choccie bar; cheese toasty and biccie... as well as all my goodies which I feel I've disowned so I'll mention them briefly just to make me feel better: Pasta; jelly; yogurts; fruit and veg...all done.

Bon appetite!

Very enjoyable to read - you've got my two key ingredients for fish pie (fish, obviously, and mashed potatoes) in there. I've also been known to melt honey into a mug of hot water, add the juice from half a lemon and drink it when I've got a cold or my throat hurts - it's very soothing. Glad to hear of somene else who bakes their own bread - I love doing that.

A great challenge, some nice choices (except Marmite!), but very different to what mine would be!
