Top Sante is a monthly magazine aimed at people who have an interest in health and diet issues but do not want to become compulsive about it.
The monthly magazine tackles health issues in a no nonsense way and tells you enough about the subject without scare mongering. It will tell you the pros and cons of the latest fad diet but with an underlying message that losing weight is usually achieved by eating less and exercising more!
The magazine has a Q & A page with a team of experts including a GP , dietitian, relationship counsellor, beauty expert , personal trainer and Complementary Medicine Professional. These pages are filled with useful advice and tips, they are probably the most useful part of the magazine and well worth a look. Issues covered in the May edition include:- How to beat stretchmarks Carrots can help prevent cancer. The best products to avoid wrinkles. Thinner Thighs Coping with child tantrums. Achieving better sleep. Calming candles. Banish the bloat. Am I drinking too much?
Each month they give away loads of beauty products in the form of a prize draw. Entries are made by leaving name and address on the phone line or by email via the internet site. I received a sea salt body scrub this way which would retail at £15.00, so well worth a try.
Every month a "celebrity" allows us to have a look at their weekly food shopping and comment on how healthily they eat and how it can be improved.
The cooking sections give healthy quick recipes that won't break the bank As well as the usual ingredients you will find cooking times, fat content and calories per serving.
Like all women's magazines at the moment , there is too much emphasis on acquiring the 'body beautiful' with bikini diets being forced on us from every angle. It is my opinion that beauty comes from within and a good diet, plenty of sleep and fresh air can be more beneficial than denying yourself the pleasures of life and spending gruelling hours in the gym.
This month, there is an article entitled "I need to stop the clock", a feeling we probably experience at some stage in our lives. It tells us how to SLOWDOWN, find time for the important things in life like families and friends and to try to stop getting excessively stressed about trivialities. It focuses on organising your life so that the essentials are dealt with quickly and effectively, leaving more time for rest and relaxation. I found the article interesting and it wasn't just aimed at high flying career women but busy mums, who often don't get a moment to themselves.
Also in Mays edition, there's an article called 'Um, my friends got this problem…', in which embarrassing sex questions are dealt with. That ones definitely worth a read!
Other articles include;- Have you got Grass is Greener Syndrome? I gave birth to my twin. Its Official, Arguing is good for your relationship! Are your Hormones running Wild?
PROS Excellent layout, short concise articles, informative and fun. Not too much emphasis on celebrities, just enough to keep me interested. Suitable for any age or walk of life.
CONS Adverts, absolutely loads of them! All health and beauty products ranging from diet supplements to cosmetic surgery. I feel these are unnecessary and contradict the message that the magazine gives out. Too much emphasis on slimming, this is not a slimming magazine, it can be found in the health section and should promote a more balanced outlook.
OVERALL OPINION A good quality glossy magazine with unpretentious and thought provoking articles. A good read for anyone who would like to improve their level of fitness and increase awareness of health issues.
Top Sante can be found in all newsagents priced at £2.10.

This sounds like a magazine you would find on the table at a doctors' surgery - heavily subsidized by the advertising - with just enough interesting articles to keep your mind occupied as you wait - but not one you would want to pay for yourself and keep!.... - ♥ - jes ≈≈≈≈{; -)-{{::::: |||||< jesi
