Topshop, it has been said, is a lot like marmite - you either love it or you hate it. So right from the word go, I should tell you that I love it. I aim to make this a fair, unbiased and impartial review but it may err slightly on the ‘yay Topshop’ side, and after finishing reading you may be struck by the sudden urge to visit your local Topshop right away. Don’t worry - this is perfectly normal.
For those who ... ...Topshop is a ladies fashion store that sells all kinds of clothes in all kinds of sizes, underwear, shoes, jewellery and accessories. It is often found adjacent to a Topman store (which, by the way, is a great place for boyfriend clothes shopping, or a sort of ‘boyfriend crèche’ to drop them when you shop). As a designer it is what I’d call near the ‘top end’ of the high street; just below places like Jane Norman and the Vestry.
For those who haven’t visited their local high street in a few years, Topshop is a ladies fashion store that sells all kinds of clothes in all kinds of sizes, underwear, shoes, jewellery and accessories.
The very, very best thing about Topshop is the amazing variety of clothes that it stocks. The main proportion of Topshop’s clothes are extremely fashionable. They are always completely up to date (and sometimes ahead) with the latest styles, and often have the new ranges before most other high street stores. On the other hand, Topshop sells all the basics, and everything in-between. I would go there for the latest style of skirt, and I would go there for a plain shirt or vest top.
----The Ranges---- Denim: Moto is Topshop’s label of jeans and all things denim. It sells normal jeans, ¾ length jeans, all lengths of denim skirt and lots of denim jackets. You can expect to pay £38 for a pair of jeans, £30 for a skirt and £40 for a jacket. I own 3 pairs of Topshop jeans, and I wear them all the time. They are the comfiest, but most fashionable jeans I’ve found so far. They always sit quite low on your hips which, (as a tip), is really flattering as it makes your bum look smaller. They are of excellent quality and mine are still going strong after a good few years wear. The sizes go from 6-16 (I believe) and up to 36” long.
Fashion clothes: The new ranges of the most fashionable clothes can usually be found right at the front of the store. It tends to be more expensive than the plainer clothes; skirts are around £20-25, and tops are around £15-20. The clothes sometimes verge on rather extreme; the things that they dress the plastic mannequins in are a great example of this kind of stuff (what do they look like?!) But don’t be put off and walk straight through – since shopping at Topshop I have become a lot braver in things I will wear, and I have discovered you can never really tell ‘till you’ve seen it on. So if you must walk through, at least do it slowly, and try to pick something up to try on – you might be surprised!
Basic clothes: Topshop has a great range of all kinds of plain clothes. They do vest tops, vests, short-sleeved tops, v-neck tops, ¾ length tops, long-sleeved tops and a great range of cardigans (if they’re in this season, which they are), jumpers and trousers. They also have a lot of knitwear, jackets and coats. I find the smallest plain tops are often really cheap, £5 or so, and the sleeved ones will be under £10.
Shoes: I don’t think Topshop have quite got it right with their shoe range yet, and if you know Topshop you might agree – they are almost ‘too fashionable’. You’ll see styles you recognise from around town, but when Topshop gets a hold of them they’ll stick things on and cut holes in and paint stripes; I often find shoes that I’d buy if they were just a bit plainer. Shoes can usually be found at the back of the store, some will be on display and some will be in pairs on hangers nearby. The ones on hangars tend to be the latest ‘mass trends’ – they’ll pick 2 or 3 styles and do them in lots of different colours. These are often the ones I’ll try on. The shoes range from £15-£60.
Underwear, Jewellery and Accessories: Going back on what I said in my H&M review, I have now decided that Topshop underwear is my favourite. They have a massive range of thongs and knickers, and always have a ‘3 pairs for £7’ deal on. There is less choice in the bras and matching sets, but I can always find something I want! Topshop jewellery is as diverse as the clothes; you could buy your favourite piece of jewellery there, but you could also find stuff for a fancy dress party. It is (as always) very fashionable, with a great range of colours, and mostly costs around £3-£5. Topshop accessories almost deserve a paragraph to themselves, but briefly, they include; bags, hats, belts, scarves, tights, stationary, sweets, and a million other things. If you are shopping for a whole outfit, Topshop is (not only the place to do it) but the only place to accessorise!
-----Extra Sizes----- I am lucky (when it comes to shopping) that I seem to be of the height that is catered for by most high-street stores. For those who are not, Topshop has two extra ranges of clothes – ‘Tall’ and ‘Petite’. These ranges are a mixture of clothes from around the store in longer and shorter sizes. The ranges are quite small (compared to the rest of the shop) but stock a good range of the fashionable clothes, basics and jeans.
----Going, Going, Gone---- A short note on buying things from Topshop – normally if I see something I like in town I might pop back to buy it the next week, but I’d never do this with Topshop. Their ranges change very quickly, so if you see something you like, buy it that day and decide if you want to keep it at home, as you can exchange it or get a refund within 28 days. With Topshop it’s a little hit and miss as to whether that item will be there the next day, let alone next week. The jeans are an exception to this rule, the styles don’t change too often and there is always a good range of sizes.
----Website---- You can shop online at the Topshop website (www.topshop.com). A few times I’ve looked online for clothes I’ve seen in the store, but I think that the website is ahead of the stores in its stock, and it often only shows a few items from a range. Delivery is £3.95. There’s also a store locator.
----The Stores---- Topshop stores are always clean, tidy and well laid out. The clothes are always arranged in size order, which I find really helpful, and are always displayed so they can be seen, on the walls and on racks on the floor. The changing rooms are lit with that flattering lighting, and are plentiful and of a good size. The store assistants usually know their stuff and are happy to help with just about anything.
----Oxford Street Topshop---- The Topshop store on Oxford Street is the largest fashion store in the world. Yup – in the whole wide world. It’s a tourist attraction in itself and well worth a visit if you ever find yourself in central London. There are 5 floors, one completely devoted to Topman, one for jewellery and accessories, and the other 3 for clothes and shoes. The bottom floor has a lot of ranges by other designers, so if you want something that no-one else is wearing, that’s the place to go. It even has a café, and hosts a lot of events like fashion shows and live DJ’s. Topshop fans be warned, it is quite possible to spend the entire day there and spend all the money you have!
----Topshop: The Good The Bad And The Ugly---- Personally I think Topshop is one of the most diverse high street stores around, and literally has something for everyone. Sometimes it can be a little on the pricey side for a high street store, and if you are really into shopping you might have to check back quite often to make sure you don’t miss anything. The sales tend to be full of the more ‘extreme’ clothes, and hence drag on for a while, and I can never find anything I like in them. For me, the worst thing is the shoes; I wish they would tone them down a little, to make it more in keeping with the style of the rest of the store. But then again that may be a good thing, as I can’t really afford more shoes!
To its credit, Topshop can always be relied on to stock the latest fashions, and is the place to go if you fancy something trendy to wear out. It has a great range clothes, in all colours and sizes. The clothes fit well, are generally very flattering, and are of a good quality. The prices can be very low on some things, and where they are high, for example the jeans, you can be sure they will last a long time.
So, like marmite, if you thought you hated it a few years ago, give it another go, it might not be as bad as you remember.
Advantages: Fashionable clothes Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey

Advantages: Great clothing selection, return anything, and good food! Disadvantages: Can be expensive, but prices are normal for the type of shop.
Every time my fiance and I take a stroll down Oxford street looking for clothes we always end up in Topshop, evern if we aren't looking for clothes we still end up there.
You will probably ask why its so great, well for a start its the largest fasion store in Europe. A direct consequnce of thie is the choice is huge. And whilst mainly a Womens store there is also Topman upstairs which has a good selection of mens clothes as well.

... ...it, you want a suit, they have it, you want a bag, they have it, you want some crazy beads and you're own personal compilation CD, they have it. You get the idea, they have quite bit of stuff. Also playing on speaker and video screens they have their very own Topshop TV which is broadcast from the bottom floor showing music videos and giving away goodies, so if you take a boyfriend shopping they won't get so bored.

Advantages: excellent clothes, in loads of fashions styles, good price Disadvantages: staff can be unhelpful, shops can be in a mess
The range of styles available in Topshop really suits everyone. The target group of Topshop is young teens to late twenties (girls) and I fit nicely into this group!
The stores are easy to find, with 1 in most towns, sometimes even more than this, and the stores are usually fair-sized. The staff are not particularly helpful, but if there is something in particular you are after, they will hopefully be helpful. The shops are often messy, particularly ... ...kicked around the floor.
The actual clothes are fairly priced, cheaper than designer high street shops such as Kookai, but more expensive than bog standard high street shops such as New Look. The range of fashions is particularly noticeable in the store in Oxford Circus, with the upper floor being jewellery, bags, fishnet tights (and tons of them!) and other accessories.
The middle floor is the main clothes floor, catering for the ‘usual ...

Advantages: Great quality, very fashionable clothes Disadvantages: expensive sometimes
Topshop is a top high street fashion shop. To the shop there are two parts....Topshop and Topman. Obviously Topman is for men and Topshop is going to be for women. They are usually together because have about half the whole shop for men and women.
In Weston-super-Mare, we have a little Topshop but no Topman. The shop is just to small for Topman but in Cribbs Causeway, The Mall they have large premises and each part has a large space and they have ... ...rooms are at the very top of the shop and they are good compared to other places. They are large and they have three big mirrors in so you can see what the clothes look at different angles. There is a bench so you won't fall over whilst trying to put on those trousers! There isn't a curtain; it's actually a door, which I much prefer. I like them more because I find that the curtain in other shops like to creep open and that can be quite embarrassing!

Advantages: its fashionable, value for money and pleasant. Disadvantages: none
Living in Leeds I suppose I’ve got it easy when it comes to shopping. I’ve got loads of great shops right on my doorstep. There is Harvey Nichols: doorman an’ all, for those who can afford it, FCUK, Morgan, Kookai, Karen Miller, Colours of Beneton, Arc, Levi Store, Gap, Envy and Elle. And this is literally just the tip of the iceberg. Out of all the shops in Leeds I truly do prefer Topshop! In Leeds there are two Topshops, there ... ...a Topman above it, not that I have ventured up there that much, to avoid the funny looks! Each store has a reasonably sized selection of faith shoes, mostly consisting of very girlie shoes such as kitten heels. The larger Topshop has a floor dedicated a selection of clothes for ‘petite’ people for customer’s 5’3 and below and there is also a selection of clothes for taller people. These clothes are the same as those for ‘normal’ ...

Tesco is one of the top stores in the country and it is open 24 hours a day in most areas. You can buy a large variety of goods including CDs, cassettes and videos. They have a wide selection of food and they stock all the top brands.
I have brought several items from the store all off which have been priced well. Their own brands are cheap and they taste great.
The staff are friendly and the queues are not as long as in other shops.
I would recommend it as one of the top three shops, if you want bargains go there. Happy Shopping! ...

Advantages: Plenty of accessories to choose from Disadvantages: It is rather intimidating to a mature person!
I adore Claires Accessories and visit often...however, I object to being pounced upon with a basket everytime I venture into the store and looked at suspisciously. I apreciate that the store aims itself at the younger end of the market but what is wrong with us 'wrinklies' taking advantage of the superb range of goods? OK, we don't want to be seen as 'mutton dressing up as lamb' but there are plenty of accessories that are not over the top and wearable by us more mature ladies..
The shop in my town is situated in the shopping mall and open plan, so I have to be very brave to venture in and usually wait till it is less crowded. So I do wish that the shop was more user friendly. ...

I used to spend 30 quid and more in Primark but now I dont shop as much in there. I believe in "you get what you pay for" and thats def the case in there! If your on a low budget or on benefits you are going to love this shop. Its murder on a weekend when the school kids are off. If your any aged woman/man you can get an outfit very cheap in there. The quality is cheaply made and after a few washes you will see that it changes but for 4 quid for a top and cheaper what do you expect! I dont shop there much anymore, not because I hate the shop but I'd rather pay out a bit more for a better material that'll last longer. I know so many people that shop here and its a success for all people and the queues are absolutely huge at weekends and in the week if school holidays are on. ...
