The Toshiba 28W93B is a widescreen, 28" television. It has NICAM sound processing.

I bought this TV because I wanted widescreen and already had a surround sound processor, so didn't need the Dolby digital version.

Picture quality is very good, especially when viewing DVD through the scart connections. Sound quality too is pretty good.

The TV seems to lack the ability to automatically sense when a widescreen format programme is being broadcast, although it is very easy to switch between the different viewing options via the remote control. I also found that some 16:9 format broadcasts still didn't completely fill the viewing area on widescreen mode. A bit of adjustment is needed.

There are two scart connectors which are great, and a number of inputs/outputs on the front panel. However, I thought that the set could really have done with an audio output on the back panel to allow connection to an amplifier. I have to connect the various components (DVD, VCR, etc.) individually.

Despite the odd gripe, the TV is very good, and can be obtained for some bargain prices too.
