Deciding to move our old Toshiba TV into the bedroom and treat ourselves to a new one for the living room we took a good look around. Having had 2 Toshibas before my thoughts were tending towards them anyway but we did look closely at comparable TVs. The styling on this TV is superb, described as a picture frame the screen is surrounded by a slim black frame about 4 cm and a delicate ½ cm silver trim. No ugly massive surround for this TV. Tucked into a corner where we have it the focus is on the screen rather than the TV which is rather big at the back as its 36 inch.
It comes with 2 built in speakers, which are silver and rounded and at the base of the TV, in the centre between them is a drop down flap which hides programme and volume controls, S-video and composite hookups for peripherals such as a play station and computers and a headphone socket.
It comes with 4 other speakers which you can place appropriately to get the maximum sound quality. My stereo is linked up to it to but that isn’t essential but it does come with a fixed external audio output which makes connecting it no effort. If you just use the 2 at the front you get Nicam stereo adding in the others gives you Dolby digital
At the back it also has 3 scarts, another composite video hookup, and connectors for both optical digital audio input and coaxial digital audio input. My advice here would be to connect things up when you’re installing it or ensure you have enough room to get round the back as the TV must weigh a ton when it’s fixed to the stand and you aren’t really going to want to move it!
The stand with it is very smart, silver to match the frame around the screen with a black trim, open at the sides ,2 glass shelves and a silver base. The stand is very well made and incredibly sturdy as it needs to be with the weight of the TV. It has pleasing curved lines and there is plenty of room for your other appliances.
The picture quality is the best part though. It has a true flat screen and the picture quality is superb. I run one of my PCs into it and the clarity is amazing. It has flicker free 100Hz progressive scans, an excellent colour depth with a crisp sharp picture.
The remote control has all the usual features such as giving you complete control over the image size and shape to suit what you are watching. It has a variety of presets such as differing sound effects accessible via the remote.
I love this TV , its one of the best purchases I made and now everyone is clamouring for LCD’s or Plasma screens the prices have dropped to make it a real bargain.

I've got one of these. The picture quality is fantastic and the weight and size of it mean that theft is well nigh impossible - look for the burglar with the double hernia! Great review. David

I nearly bought the 32" version to this, but opted for another Panasonic T.V, a 32" CRT, as they have been so reliable for me in the past. I guess one day i will have to go with the flow and replace it with a Plasma. A great review by the way, plenty of info and specification details, well done.
