Advantages: Huge Screen, Price Disadvantages: Can only be viewed from certain angles
...bonus if you have a Toshiba DVD player the remote can control it too.
The sound quality from the set is really good, nice and clear with no distortion and has a built in sub which handles the bass really well. I think the volume goes up to 100 and it is ample at volume 12!

After deciding my poxy 20 inch tv was too small for the living room I went shopping for a replacement. I visited my local Dixons and spent half an hour looking at the various sets they had on offer. The massive projection TVs caught my eye and I immediately fell in love with the 42” Toshiba. It looked superior to the other projection sets there and was an absolute bargain. I paid £899 for mine but recently have found it selling for £849. It is fantastic value for money, where else are you going to get 42 inches for less then £850? I thought about buying the equivalent plasma set, but at more then three times the price I decided to go for the projection. It was delivered 3 days later and was that big I couldn’t get it out of the box without cutting down the side of it. It took all of 2 minutes to set it up and away we went. The remote control is well laid out and simple to use. As a bonus if you have a Toshiba DVD player the remote can control it too. The sound quality from the set is really good, nice and clear with no distortion and has a built in sub which handles the bass really well. I think the volume goes up to 100 and it is ample at volume 12! Although picture quality is good, it is in the end of the day a projection screen TV. In certain lights the picture is hard to see, and can only really be watched when sitting at certain angels. I have recently hooked my DVD player up through the S-Video and I can only describe the picture as CLEAR! All in all anyone wanting to break into the 40 inch plus TV market should consider the 42PW23P as a strong contender.
Advantages: Huge screen, Price, Sound Quality Disadvantages: Screen darkens from some angles
Firstly, lets just clear up the "disadvantage" of viewing at some angles.
The only time you will see any change in the picture quality (and by that I mean the brightness of the picture) is when you are looking down towards the screen meaning you are standing up and quite close to the screen. Also you'll notice the picture get slighty dimmer if you are sitting far over to the left or right of it. The dimming is only slight however and won't effect ... ...This TV cost me £1,100 pounds when I bought it (they've come down quite a lot since then) and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Firstly the picture quality is supurb, The picture produced doesn't glare like a traditional television and is very easy on the eyes. DVD's look amazing and if you watch your movies in the dark, you really will feel like you're at the cinema thanks to the hefty built in sound system (the whole bottom half of the TV, where ...

Advantages: Huge telly for a good price Disadvantages: Picture can loose convergence at times
People told me that rear projection TV's are dull to look at and the picture is fuzzy. They also said that they don't work on sunny days and they break after five minutes. Dispite this, I got one and I can honestly say I love it. Out of the box, I was suprised at how light it was (If it weren't so bulky, you could pick it up yourself easily). It's got lots of connectivity on the back (3 scart sockets and composite) and the picture is beautiful, bright ... ...this unit is that the actual screen is made of a soft corrugated plastic sheet that bends when you touch it. Getting finger prints on it should be avoided as they're hard to get off. The stand is a must have, by the way - it's very short otherwise. Enjoy. ...
