I was pleased to see several payment options including the much rarer telephone call back option. The cheaper delivery option was very very quick. I bought a ToshibaDVR19DTKB VHS DVD combination recorder. This is replacing a much older DVDplayer and VHS recoder combination which no longer records at all. The new unit can record from its freeview tuner and play back via HDMI to our 32" LCD TV. In my opinion this is easy to use and has a fantastic picture and reasonable menu's. I did find that the remote has small text lablels next to the buttons making it much harder to read and to use. This is not an incommon problem and many remotes are the weakest part of the design package. ...

I have recently purchased the ToshibaD-VR16SB combo unit, and am initially very pleased with it.
It is a neat looking unit, and I found the initial connecting and set up relatively easy.The unit has an auto tune facility to find the terrestial TV channels, and scart connection for satellite, and facilities are there for s video or audio/video cables if required.
For DVDrecording it has a choice of six modes, giving up toa max of 600 minutes on a 12cm DVD disc, down to the highest quality level of recording, giving 60 mins of very high quality.I have used the recorder on the standard setting, which gives 120 mins at a fairly good quality level. You can use DVD RW disc, which you can wipe and reuse, or normal discs which you finalise, and they can then be played on any DVDplayer.

Purchased this from Beyond Television for £144.50, can not fault it. The manual is brief but explains the operations very clearly. Installation was very easy, I had it hooked up to my TV & digibox in no time at all.
Playback looks good on my LCD TV and copying our old videos to DVD was very easy, I was copying them within minutes of setting up. DVDrecording quality is very good and very easy to do, I have not had one failure yet.
Recording to DVD has multiple modes giving different lengths of recording, shorter the time better the quality. I tend to use the 120 mins setting for most recordings as the quality is great, only going for longer times when needed.
