recently bought this DVD/VCR recorder combi with Freeview by Toshiba as I have been wanting a DVD recorder for some time now, but also I have a number of videos still and not quite ready to get rid of them yet!

I spent a bit of time looking around before deciding on this one, and what made me decide to buy it was the fact that people were saying it was easy to set up. I am not the most technical minded person, so the easier the better as far as I am concerned!
I did think that being a DVD/VHS combi it would be quite complicated to operate and set up, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use.

The thing I like most about this is I have a lot of videotape of my daughters when they were younger, which I had transferred from my Sony Handycam onto VHS, and would dearly like to have these on DVD now as videos are fast becoming obsolete. So now I can record those precious videos onto DVD.

The DVD/VHS combi is black and around the size, if not a little larger, than a standard video recorder, and cost me nearly £200, but I understand it is cheaper on Amazon - wish I had checked on there first!

It was very easy to set up, simply plug in, connect scart leads, select digital/analogue tuning and away it goes setting up channels etc. When finished the clock appears with the time already set, just press ok and set up is complete.

It has everything you need, including Freeview, which looked very good, though I have Sky so won't be using this. It has a very good instruction manual with a step by step guide which is easy to understand, unlike some user guides I have came across. It covers all the functions, from set-up to playing and recording. There is also a guide which tells you what every button on the remote control is for - handy for people like me who always wonder why there are so many buttons and don't believe you need them all!

The only downside is there is no scart lead supplied, but luckily I had my own so it didn't matter too much, but I did assume you there would be one included. However, there were batteries included for the remote so that's a good thing I suppose!
My partner did comment that it seems to take a while for a DVD to load. It can take a few seconds, but this honestly doesn't bother me at all.

All in all I think it is good value for money, and it's easier to operate than my old VHS recorder, which I had for a few years and never could programme it!
I would recommend this for it's ease of use and brilliant user-guide. I'm very pleased with it and looking forward to transferring a lot of happy memories onto DVD!
