My laptop is fairly old but has served me very well (it's a Toshiba incidentaly) , it has about 27GB of storage space which nowdays isn't enough for all my work as well as movies and music. I decided to look at some external hard drives so I could store everything that I wanted and more. This particular model appealed to me, not just because it was the cheapest, but because it had very good specs (1TB of storage to say the least) and was a Toshiba. A very good brand that I trust. So I forked out the cash and had it delivered to my door. Opening the box, I saw that it was slightly longer but overall smaller than it had apeared online. This was fine as I am not bothered about space. It comes supplied with everything you need to get it running and took me about 2 mins to read the quick start guide and get it going. I then decided to format it so I could have a blank canvas to work from. The booklet said that the drive has already been formatted to NTFS but I did it again anyway. A full format took all afternoon but I expected it to take that long seeing as my computer is a bit behind the times. It took about 10 minutes to move my movies and music (about 13GB) across via USB 2.0 and that seems fairly acceptable to me. The full instruction manual is saved to the disc itself (as a PDF) and has a good troupleshooting and FAQ section. My one peeve with the drive is the bright blue LED on the front. It changes to red when transferring data and flashes purple when formatting. This is blinding and lights the whole room but turning the drive off solves that. Ha! 1 Year warranty is standard but I don't expect anything to go wrong. Great drive and highly reccomended!
