...I recently started a new job and was provided with a very smart looking Toshiba Tecra A8 laptop. I was pleasently surprised with the choice work had made. Toshiba laptops have a history of quality laptops and this is no different. The A8 comes with a CoreDuo processor with each processor clocking in at 1.66 GHz, providing in total over 3.2GHz, this along with 512 MB RAM +128 MB RAM Intel onboard graphics. Also included is a CD Re-Writer and DVD drive (allowing me to watch DVD's while traveling between various sites).
The only major problems I have had with the system is that the system was unstable when first installed, however, the Toshiba Support Website has a BIOS update that corrects the problem and allows you to get the maximum performance out.
I would seriously consider buying this model (If work hadn't provided)....

Advantages: Very fast and reliable and a very long lasting battery Disadvantages: Changing/upgrading the memory
...Hi there,
I’m coming back to a positive opinion, this time about a top specs laptop from Toshiba, a Toshiba Tecra with a Intel® Centrino™ Mobile 1.7GHz Processor
First of all, I’ll tell you the feeling I had about the laptop and my personal experience with it, then I'll put all the specs for the laptop, so any technical people (like me) can see what's all about this beauty
My first impression when I’ve seen it was was not particularly “WOW”. It looks very nice, with a silver lid, but everything else, when you open the lid is black, apart from the TouchPad, which is also silver and some other bits, which are silver I don’t particularly like this color schema (silver/black), but it wasn’t bad in the end (I don’t want to be picky).
The laptop is very fast (and I really mean it), the booting up for XP was slightly better than my dual...

Advantages: Quality is reasonably good Disadvantages: major defect in many models
...I own a toshiba laptop and I know several people who do too.
In general, toshiba laptops are among the best laptops out there. There is a big problem with them though. After about 5 months, the computer faces a total shut down for no reason, for example the computer will just die and you will have to turn it back on again. Similarly, there is a problem with the power supply in that the power supply goes randomly too. What you have to do is take the plug out, wait 10 seconds and put it back in. Now you're probably thinking this is only happening to my toshiba, but no! Its happening to my friend's toshiba's too.... and the worrying thing is that they have different models, and newer models! so before you decide to buy a toshiba laptop make sure you get it insured, or buy another company, because this bug is extremely frustrating!...
