...MY VIEWS
I have been using Laptops for 6 years now and have greatly appreciated the ever expanding evolution of these machines.
My experiences began with Dell Laptops which were well made, robust and lasted well in a bustling household (dropped on floors, thrown round like frisbees) but it wasn't tell my brother-in-law brought around a spare ToshibaPortege 4000 that I discovered how quickly Laptops have progressed with technology. The machine is totally jam packed with features which include a built-in Modem,DVD Player rom,Wireless LAN card,Bluetooth,Pentium lll, latest Microsoft XP,etc..
The ToshibaPortege 4000 is half the size and weight of my trusty Dells which is definitely a strong point as it makes it so much easier carrying it around, whether it be in the house or on your travels also having a built in wireless card (no phone...

Advantages: very slim, very light, 3 year guarantee, long battery life Disadvantages: Pricey (average specifications for a very high price)
...The Portege R500 is a new range of ultra-thin laptops by Toshiba. This laptop consists of a 12" (30 cm) wide screen display with an integrated optical drive. With the addition of the optical drive Toshiba's R500 range have become the thinnest laptops in the world which feature 7mm super-slim DVD SuperMulti drives.
The ToshibaPortege R500-100 is one of many new Toshiba laptops that weigh just under 1 kilogram (0.98 kg to be exact). You will get an all day battery life, all day battery life meaning up to 8 hours depending on what you do on the laptop. For example. If you play the next generation of video games, then obviously a lot of processing power is required, which most definitely requires a large amount of electrical energy in a fairly small period of time.
With this laptop you have a Toshiba standard guarantee of 3 years, which...

Advantages: Robust, powerful, functionally superior to the competition. All you could ask for from a tablet pc. Disadvantages: Can get hot, but nothing to worry about, battery life shorter than with other models (3.5hrs), heavier than the competition making it awkward for the true mobile user.
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the ToshibaPortégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the ToshibaPortege 3500 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
Of all the tablet PC's currently on the market the ToshibaPortégé 3500 has the best performance of all the systems because it uses the Intel Pentium III-M 1.33 GHz processor and a fast hard drive. Perhaps as a consequence of the faster processor, the Toshiba is also the hottest and noisiest; it is the only Tablet PC I have used which utilises a case fan. Furthermore, it has the shortest battery life (3:05 versus 3:25 for the top-scoring Fujitsu). Unlike...
