Toshiba are not renowned for their mobile phones, but more for their innovations in other technological areas. The Toshiba Portege G900 is one of a small minority of Toshiba mobile phones, and one of an even smaller minority of personal horizontal slider phones.

Loaded with mobile technology the Toshiba Portege G900 comes with an innovative fingerprint sensor and a full QWERTY Keyboard. The QWERTY keypad is very easy to use making the use of e-mail more efficient.

Being one of the first mobile phones to include Windows mobile 6 , you can read and reply to e-mails as soon as they arrive at your INBOX, you can organize your calendar and make use of the integrated and popular Microsoft Office applications. Other benefits of this phone are that it consists of a generously large 3" screen, two cameras (one for video calling as this phone is 3G enabled), a high quality mp3 player, video streaming capabilities and much more.

With its integrated Office tools you can easily go about your day without the need of logging on to a computer or laptop to access your e-mails, files etc. Microsoft Outlook mobile lets you browse, send and receive e-mails effortlessly with the phones 3G mobile broadband speeds, which can reach speeds of up to 3.5mbps (Mega-bits Per Second). You also get viewing support for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and even PDF's, which in simple terms means that you can literally carry your whole office in the palm of your hands.

Connecting to a PC or laptop is easy, with the provided wires. There is even an option of connecting to your PC via Wi-fi or blue-tooth. After you have connected to your PC or laptop you can transfer media from your G900 to your laptop or PC and vice versa. With the phone you only get 30 MB of internal memory, which is not a lot. You can choose to expand the available memory on your phone with memory card support up to 2GB miniSD.

You will never have to worry about people browsing through your personal files as Toshiba have provided a fingerprint authentication service as standard. This basically means that you will be able to program the phone to activate only after it has recognized your finger print. This then only leaves one way for another person to access your files. That final one way is to cut off your thumb, which I do not recommend.

There is also GPRS support, meaning you can use your G900 as a navigation system when needed. However you will have to pay extra for the GPRS service, which is worth while as the GPRS application will remove the need of buying a separate navigation system and may prove more cost effective. www.pocketgear.com provide the necessery applications.

As this phone runs on Windows mobile 6, Microsoft's newest mobile operating system. You will be able to download thousands of wonderful applications from third party developers. www.projectw.org is one of many websites that host many Windows mobile 6 applications created by third party developers.

Overall I think that the Toshiba Portege G900 is a very good phone, with all the necessary features provided that will enable a person to access their most important files and simply enjoy everything a new mobile phone has to offer. There is only one drawback to this business phone, and that drawback is it's price like all feature filled mobile phones. Prices for the Toshiba Portege G900 start at Ł369.99.
