Advantages: Fast on a small OS, very light and small, has a good LCD screen, comes with essential bits Disadvantages: Can be slow on Win 2K, has limited RAM, one USB 1.1 port on laptop, can get hot,
...I was given this laptop by a friend for free. In my opinion, this laptop would be brilliant as a netbook. It is really small and lightweight, and with the correct operating system it can be very fast. I also want to comment on how durable the laptop is. I have spilt 2 glasses of Coke onto the keyboard and parts of the laptop and it has come through smiling. I was really impressed. Another thing that is good about the laptop is that Toshiba decided to include the Port Replicator for free. The port replicator adds more USB ports, an ethernet port and a few others.
The downside to this laptop is mainly the RAM. The laptop comes with 64Mb of RAM which can be upgraded with 32Mb, 64Mb and 128Mb modules. The problem with these RAM chips is that they are VERY expensive. £50 or $70 for the 128Mb module!!!
The laptop can also get quite hot...

Advantages: Speedy, Light, Looks Good and Great Price! Disadvantages: Older Model, Old Processor, Old OS, Low RAM and HDD
...I bought my 3490CT on eBay UK back in January this year. It was a second hand model which came without an OS. I know that it comes with a license for Microsoft Windows 2000. I used Windows XP Home on mine. From the moment I turned it on I have loved this little machine. It has great features. I have found it to have just the adequate speed for portable computing needs. I do still find the need to have a main fast desktop computer at home. This in my case is because I do a lot of work in HTML and Flash. If you do not require a extremely fast machine which you will use for very basic Windows tasks and a machine which looks good, is tiny and light this should be one of the contenders in your buying list. You can get this very competitively priced on eBay. It is one of Toshiba's older but very stable machines. The processor being a Pentium...
