When I took this out of the box, I instantly took note of the design, the black colouring looks quite good and the front panel isn't took complicated. It looks like something like a cross between an old fashioned video player and a modern DVD player, but the effect has been pulled off well and it is not unsightly. The only discontentment I had with it was how bulky it was, but then I supposed with all the features it has, including a VHS slot, this ... ...set up but you have to make sure that you have connected the aerial lead first or it doesn't work, it took me quite a while to figure that out, so I have just saved you some time.

This was very easy to set up but you have to make sure that you have connected the aerial lead first or it doesn't work, it took me quite a while to figure that out, so I have just saved you some time.

It can convert VHS tapes to DVD (this is the main reason I bought it, I have been unable to do anything with my VHS tapes since my old player broke and it was nice to be able to watch them again, as well as space conserving to put them on DVD) as well as editing them before doing so. It is also possible to pause, record and edit live TV, a great feature for those, like me, who haven't bought sky+ yet. Just a little tip, when editing files, copy the file to the hard drive first then make a 'playlist' of the file. This means you can edit the file without deleting the original recording.
This is well worth the price, and ensures that precious memories are not lost forever on unusuable VHS tapes.

Quick review of Toshiba RD-XV48DT
88 years old and struggling. can tcope withrecording to HDD and DVD but it seems impossible to record in advance prorammes tio VHS. WHERE AM I GOING WRONG.
