...I am very happy with my Toshiba.
At first I had a samsung 709 which gave me lots of problems, the final straw was when i had to take it back for another upgrade, so I took it back and had it changed for a Toshiba and I have never had a problem since.
The Toshiba has a great picture and the sound is excellent.
It can be chipped to play R1 ( One already done is on sale at Richard Sounds)and I have never had a problem Disc.

Advantages: Great Product Disadvantages: Modification needed for Region Free
...Despite what another review says on this site the Toshiba 2109 does NOT play anything other than Region 2 DVDs unless you buy a "Chipped" model that has disabled the region checking. These modification chips can also be bought and fitted after purchase. This costs about £30 and involves opening up the until and soldering about 6 wires in place. Considering that you can get DVDs much earlier and cheaper from the US this is a worthwhile mod.
Totally satified with my Toshiba 2109 which I have had for just over a year....

It comes with teletext and also different zoom functions, I’m sure more of a gimmick than anything else. It does come with a sleep function which is particular important for me as it is in my bedroom.
Toshiba is a better make than most so hopefully the reliability is good. We have had Bush TVs before but they broke down relatively quickly. A good TV for the bedroom....
