Advantages: Multi Region, Good picture, slim, durable Disadvantages: No Scart, not a recorder
...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. Advantages: Great Product Disadvantages: Modification needed for Region Free
...Despite what another review says on this site the Toshiba 2109 does NOT play anything other than Region 2 DVDs unless you buy a "Chipped" model that has disabled the region checking. These modification chips can also be bought and fitted after purchase. This costs about £30 and involves opening up the until and soldering about 6 wires in place. Considering that you can get DVDs much earlier and cheaper from the US this is a worthwhile mod.
Totally satified with my Toshiba 2109 which I have had for just over a year....
