Manufacturer's product description
Toshiba Storage Device Division has a robust roadmap for HD DVD product introductions and has already introduced HD DVD drives for incorporation into PCs, game consoles and media centers. With its rich heritage in delivering optical storage technologies as the company that developed and first delivered DVD, Toshiba is uniquely positioned to provide IT & CE manufacturers with next-generation DVD options for viewing movies, enjoying gaming and storing digital content in high-definition on their devices. HD DVD offers backward compatibility with current optical formats, sound technology specifications and wide adoption from content creators, as well as hardware and media manufacturers. These industry leaders are benefiting from efficient media and hardware manufacturing processes that do not require costly equipment upgrades, making HD DVD the right option for transitioning to next-generation, high-definition DVD technologies.
Advantages: Robust, powerful, functionally superior to the competition. All you could ask for from a tablet pc. Disadvantages: Can get hot, but nothing to worry about, battery life shorter than with other models (3.5hrs), heavier than the competition making it awkward for the true mobile user.
...pound range. The Toshiba includes valuable features such as a three-year warranty, USB 2.0, 60 GB/5,400 rpm hard drive and Compact Flash (CF Type II) and Secure Digital (SD) memory slots.
In summary if Toshiba could find a way to make the unit a few ounces lighter, it would be the perfect Tablet PC. Protective casing with straps/handles take away much of this weight issue....

Advantages: Excellent features for price Disadvantages: Availability of accessories
...everything, the Toshiba e400 is not perfect. My biggest objection to it is the lack of accessories when compared to other PDA’s like HP and Palm. It also only takes SD (Secure Digital) cards whereas others take both SD and Compact Flash. Despite this however I have managed to find, buy and very happily use an aluminium case, two-in-one USB charger/data cable, a wireless SD card, a 256Mb SD memory card and a wireless (infrared) keyboard.
Despite lacking larger internal storage, Bluetooth capability and other features I think this is an excellent option if you are looking for an all-round PDA with a nice price tag....

Advantages: well-designed, strong infrared, very crisp, clear screen. Disadvantages: Software bundle pretty basic, screen could be bigger
...Palm’s days as the king of tiny handhelds are numbered with the introduction of the Toshiba e310 Pocket PC.
Toshiba, though not that well known in this part of the world as a PDA maker (its Pocket PC models were not brought in till now), has actually been fairly innovative in its handheld designs – for example, Toshiba was the first to integrate both a CompactFlash AND Secure Digital (SD) slot in its Pocket PCs; the first to introduce an XScale processor handheld; and the first to offer a 4in LCD screen in a Pocket PC (the largest right now is 3.8in).
Now, the company has taken the crown for the thinnest Pocket PC around. The e310 is amazingly thin – in fact, it’s about as thin as a Palm m515, but about half an inch longer.
If you think that’s not something, chew on this – the e310 has a 240 x 320 pixel screen and all the bells...

What HiFi gave this player 5 star rating commenting that it believed Toshiba had shot itself in the foot by producing such a good player at such a cheap price, even comparing it £200 players.
On this basis alone, I bought one.

When I was first contemplating getting a DVD player for my bedroom, I wasn't really after anything that was too up-to-date or overly stylish. I was just after a fairly cheap, easy to operate player that would serve the purpose of playing a variety of... more
