We bought a this Toshiba laptop a year ago (from Australia) when we knew that we were going to be living in the UK for a few years. We wanted a computer that would be reliable, had worldwide support, easy to use, and could replace our desktop machine given that we had limited accomodayion in the UK.
SO far, the plan has worked brilliantly. Within 1 week, we were happily surfing in the UK, after finding a UK ISP and a UK phone plug. The machine has behaved beautifully, and with the large screen, comfortable keyboard, toggle (instead of mouse) and portablity, we have made full of of it. It is much lighter than most, so can be carried around when we are travelling
The only problems we have had, - during the first week, a problem when running off batteries and using certain screen-savers. This turned out to be a confict between WIndows 98 and Plus pack 98 - for a long time, our keyboard was outputting strange charaters in place of ', ", [, ] etc. (most of the punctuation characters) This was fixed when I chaged to an English(Australian) keyboard from American
Now I just want to know why I haven't had a laptop before...maybe the cost, but it's worth it for the convenience of not having to lug around a dead weight
