This laptop is an ingenius piece of junk that derserves the bin however ill start with the good points.
Advantages/positives:
Wonderful compatablitly with Vista, life server after my hard drive broke and my BIOS( nerd stuff - binary input and out system) wouldnt accept a old version of XP pro ( no sp). Well the point is that it works like a dream with Vista Business.
Decent computing power, can handle games which require a lot of processing demand and graphics.
Excellent entertainment notebook, nice surround sound when watching DVD, movies, music, games etc.
Harman/kardon speakers are a lovely touch espically if you the crank the music on max, perfect sound.
4 usb ports for all your usb needs since the 100gb is not always enough and could use an external harddrive or if you want to use a normal mouse.
Disadvantages/negatives:
There are 4 buttons(Play/pause/stop/ back or forth) and an off button which is really annoying as it takes a while to realise its not part of the QWERTY keyboard. Also they provide pointless features that you can do with the mouse 10x faster.
BBQ time!! i cooked my system board completely!!! had to use an external fan(those you use in the summer to cool yourself down with) to cool it down otherwise it would burn my legs.
Hard drive died a week after the warranty ran out.... conspiracy or conisidence? I expected better from Hitachi....
BIOS is useless wont allow old versions of XP to be installed.
This laptop needs juice!!! dont expect to watch a 2 hour DVD and be able to finish it by the battery dies.
Heavy sucker... it weighs more than 2.7 kg, its a back killer.
Overall:
Its a lovely laptop for enterainment, i love sound and video quality. Toshiba did a good job designing this laptop but i would not under any circumstance recommend this as a notebook for serious gaming, regular carrying around... pretty heavy and might damage it - dispite the fact it has anti-shock features.

Advantages: Functional, reliable, light and looking nice :) Disadvantages: Easy to scratch, needs more RAM
Hi,
I've had my Toshiba (that's the 2nd laptop I've had, the 1st was Toshiba, too) for almost 3 years now, and had no problems with it so far. No blue screens, no weird behaviour. I think it just needs more RAM, that's why I'm upgrading it to 2x1GB, instead of the current 2x512MB. Apart from that the battery is dead after 10 minutes, but that's just because I kept it plugged in to AC for the last couple of years.
All in all - good buy, I'm not ...

Advantages: Fast, Lots of spaces, good screen and mobility Disadvantages: keyboard
Purchased this laptop in November 2006, it came with Windows Media Center Edition 2005 with an update offer to upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium on its release (Jan 2007) for free. However, I think that this laptop now comes with Vista pre-installed.
Used this laptop for light gaming, entertainment and application programing. It compleatly replaced my desktop pc and have used it as such. It has had 24/7 use and thanks to the core processor in it, ... ...which can occur with laptops. The addition of a dedicated graphics card means that gaming is possible on this laptop, even with the latest games, at the sacrifice of not being able to run with all the nice features turned on. Lots of HDD space (200gb) so i could quite happly keep all my music and video files on it and take them anywhere with me. Excelent battery life about 3 hours with everything set either off/or in low power state, can get 1.5 ...

Advantages: durability, reasonable price Disadvantages: heat if used long hours and noisy fun inside
This notebook is my first notebook I bought it a year ago soon after it was launched in UK. I paid £499 for it. I don't think I should describe the product description in the review so I will only mention my experiences and opinions. In my opnion, the Satellite series is the reasonable priced notebook introduced by Toshiba. I use it daily and its durability is quite good. The keyboard keys are easy to handle and use. The notebooks come together with ... ...classic looks.
When it is used for long hours (like 5 hours or more), it becomes hotter especially near the mouse pad area and the noise of the fun gets louder to reduce the heat inside.
To summarise the pros and cons, it is value for money. Good Luck in your research of notebooks info. ...
