* Intel® Centrino® Chipset Processor: Intel® Core® 2 Duo. This offers clock speed of 2.00 GHz in other words very reasonable speed for a laptop for everyday use. Laptop can perform many tasks simultaneously.
* Hard Drive: 160 GB Hitachi® Hard Drive. This is reasonable amount of space to store files such as films and music. Note that operating system itself takes up 15GB and for other programmes you may wish to install may vary the disk space. From my own experience I use Microsoft® Office, Adobe® Photoshop and few games which have took me up to 40GBs.
* Random access memory (RAM) of 3.00 GB (3072 mb) DDR2. This is extremely good for the range of price by giving much memory as possible. You will find smooth running laptop with 3.00 GB RAM. Also this is expandable up to 8 GB. Shared Graphics: Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family. The express chipset mainly covers the Graphics card. It is very average for this laptop however this will not affect you if you not consider this laptop for high quality gaming. I have personally tried playing games however the graphics card cannot support the new realising games such as Call of Duty® World at War, Fallout 3 which contains very rich graphics.
On the Brightside the graphics card is more than good enough to perform the average tasks such as photo manipulations (which I mainly use the laptop for) and video editing.
* Audio: Realtek® High Definition Audio Card. Audio is very rich on this laptop and it comes with built-on speakers on the laptop. You can buy a external set of speakers if you wish to and easily plug in. there is also a built-in Microphone which is very handy and helpful. If you use Skype® or similar stuff, this will be really helpful. Network Adapters: Intel® Wireless WiFi® Adapter and Realtek® RTL8102E Family PCI-E fast Ethernet Adapter. Toshiba L300 19-Y offers both ways to connect to network through the ASDL cable or wireless. You will also receive a Toshiba® Assist programme with the laptop which allows you to configure a network or connect to a network extremely easy.
* Built-in Web Camera comes with the assistant software. The resolution setting will affect the size of the picture files and video files. Available resolution settings are: 160x120, 176x144, 320x240, 352x288 and 640x480 (0.3 million pixels). Image quality can be adjusted for the snapshots however this is available for the video recording.
* DVD Super Multi Drive (Double layer) with maximum speed of 24x. 15.4" Widescreen TruBrite® XGA (1280 x 800) High Brightness display.
* Power input autosensing AC adapter (100/240 V) for worldwide usage. lithium-ion battery which will last up to 2.5 hours.
* The laptop itself weighs around 2.5 kg
Pre-installed Operating System and Programmes
Toshiba L300 19-Y comes with Windows® Vista Home Premium 32-bit pre-installed. It will automatically setup itself once you turn on the laptop for the first time. If you wish to use a different operating system such as Windows® XP or Lunix this is also possible. However I have not done this personally.Toshiba® Assist is another handy piece of software which will comes with this laptop. If you are a beginner to using computers or if you find you are unable to perform a task you can easily find help from this programme. E.g. connect to a network.

Things that please me:
• Price for the value (more spec for the cheaper price) • Reliability (fast and smooth) • Free utility software and help
Things concern me is:
• Shared graphics memory (does not suit for gamers) • No HDMI port built-in (however you can buy a extension from VGA output to HDMI)
Personal Experience
I bought Toshiba L300 19-Y satellite from Comet® online beginning of 2009. I bought this product under £400 which was very cheap for the value in current day. I have been using this product for 8 months and I never had any difficulties or technical errors with this laptop. I must say I am extremely pleased with this product. In current hard times if you are looking for laptop which offers you most for cheaper this laptop is one of the best choices you will find.
As I mentioned earlier probably the only weakness I have found so far with this laptop is the poor shared graphics memory which will affect you if you consider gaming. Other than this issue the laptop is phenomenal.
