    Among computer enthusiasts, Toshiba tend to get a tough time on account of not building effective systems - apparently. I've been a long-time PC user (and something of a fanatic to tell the truth), and this P100 is the first laptop I have ever purchased. So, without further adieu, let me dispel the myth of Toshiba's poor reputation. Firstly, mine had a fault straight out of the box and refused to start up, so it was promptly shipped back to Toshiba for repairs.     Ive had this laptop since September 2006, great specs for an XP machine, but no way ready for Vista. Build quality is fairly unsatisfactory on mine, battery has never worked and attempts of repair are met with sending them the laptop for uo to 4 weeks. Screen size is lovely and the 17" really makes a difference, its very pleasant to work with and can handle a nice range of resolutions. graphics card is mid range for what the laptop is really marketed as - I would personally look for an ATI x1700 laptop if you are looking for a cheaper Gaming laptop.     Advantages Advantages Great price tag, fantastic mid-range laptop with a low-range price tag

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite Big, gets pretty warm underneath, hinges do start to crack after a while

    I bought the Toshiba Satelite P100-347 laptop a while ago as a secondary laptop but it seems that this 'Secondary' laptop has become my primary laptop, why you might ask, well even though I got it second hand (and for a bargain price I might add) it does everything I ask it to do. I must point out that I don't play that many games on it, I leave those tasks to my Xbox 360 and PS3 to handle, but as a website designer, film, music and internet addict I couldn't be happier.     It is obvious that this is the most powerful gaming laptop of Toshiba UK. Toshiba Satellite P100-286 is the replacement of its first gen : P100-347. Both have configuration, P100-286 doesn't have any improvement in hardware. However, updated with a new BIOS and new OS : Windows Vista Home Premium. The OS seems to work fine, sometimes there're still several bugs but they can easily fixed by updating on Microsoft website regularly.     Recently upgraded from a Toshiba Satellite 2450 so slightly biased in favour of the brand which I've found to be robust and reliable. This baby is cuter in terms of the graphic capability especially with the 17" trubrite screen which gives a wonderfully clean image - definitely it's biggest selling point. It also has the DVD RW capability plus WiFi which are essential upgrade features. On the matter of upgrades, I like the fact that you can access the memory mode bay on the underside rather than a complex fiddle with keyboards to reach the RAM chips.
