I purchased one of these last week for the sole purpose of playing games on mainly world of warcraft ok lets get the specs out the way first
SPECS
Pentium duel core 2.24gig processor with 3meg of cache 4 GIG of ram 17 inch monitor ATI mobility 4850 with 512meg Vram 500 gig sata drives 2 x 250gig Keyboard including Number pad Windows Vista 32bit premium Built in 2 million pixel web cam
I ordered this on Tuesday night and it was delivered on the Thursday afternoon and cost me £650 which was great value I thought.
SETTING UP
First thing need was to install windows yes it need to be set up but this was a automatic process which you had to sit there for an hour as vista has a tendency to shut down when it restarts while installing.
Starting windows for the first time
Windows takes about 1 minute to start on this laptop not sure if that is commen for windows vista as this is the first time i have used vista and not sure the speed it usually boots in. The first thing needed to do is to set up the software it comes with Microsoft works, Norton anti virus all the other software is pre-installed. I never install Norton as I have other av software I use for all my machines.
There is built in wireless so if you have a wireless setup at home just add the information into the wireless configuration and you are ready to go not sure of the range of the wireless card but the signal is very strong everywhere in my house.
Usage
First thing you will notice about this laptop when you use it is the softness of the keyboard and how sharp and clear the screen is and at 17.2 inches is big enough to have a large screen resolution 1400 x 900 wide screen.
For everyday use this laptop is overkill to extreme levels as i had paint shop pro running along with a 3d animation suite and music playing in the back ground i know this is not everyday use of a laptop but gives you the idea of how well this laptop runs.
Gaming
This is what i brought the laptop for and i must say this runs anything on the market today. I play World of warcraft a lot and that was the main reason i brought the laptop and with the graphics options on the maximum they can be the game ran with 120fps and ran perfectly even with all the effects from others the game would drop to about 90fps but never any lower.i also tested this with other games such as command and conquer red alert 3 a graphic hungry processor greedy game and yet again i can not fault it the game ran smoothly with no problem what so ever.Only bad thing is that vista has trouble with some older games that ran on xp but most about 90% a simple update from the game manufacture and the games work like they did before with no problems.
internet usage
I use the internet for a variety of different reason and i am one of these people who will have my web browser open with about 50 pages open at the same time I normally use Opera web browser but wanted to try out how the laptop would run using Internet explorer.I went about browsing as I normally do now i know that having a 15meg line will of help but on my old laptop i would begin to struggle after about 10 pages or so the laptop would of slowed down however with this one after 50 pages open 1 with a video stream running the laptop showed no signs of slowing it is awesome for browsing comes close to beating my base unit i have which is the similar spec.
I know you might think yeah yeah he is saying this because it is his latest toy to play with, but this is the best laptop i have ever used and i spent a lot of time looking into new laptops before i went rushing in to buy one..
Advantages: excellent memory size, and graphics Disadvantages: battery back-up is poor

I purchased this laptop last week for a £400-£500 price range (medium). First thing i noticed was the look (So sleek, so sexi, it's so shiney!) It looks class. When i first got this laptop i thought that it was too good to be true for the price and i was right, maybe it is just my luck but i do not rate this laptop very high.
At first with not many files or programmes on it it was a perfect laptop, ran fast and had great Wifi signal, as soon as i downloaded an AVG it started to run VERY slowly. When i say slowly i mean slow, i could start up the ... ...had to go back to toshiba is due to the lid on it, when you close the screen the screws are very tight and so after a while the lid split across the hinges and so had to get a replacement lid, this however is happening again but for the trouble of sending it back i can live with it, the first instance it took about 3 letters, 6 calls and numerous emails for toshiba to accept responsibility, it wasnt until the store i purchased it from said they would ...

this is a really reliable, it has a fantastic tru bright screen and amazing hard drive space 300GB and a fantastic 3GB RAM.........
well when i bought this laptop i plugged it in and it went thru the normal procedure of installing windows vista (32-bit). it has a a really reliable card reader for very fast data transfer and music transfer.
i perssonally like the touch pad with a grippy material, the sound quality is fanstastic with its harman/kardon ... ...thru the brilliant speakers......
it has a built in webcam 2.0mp and a built in microphone so you can make calls over thhe internet
it also has 4 usb 2.0 ports so you can plug in all your usb devices with no problems the battey is really good lasts for bout 3hours on full charge overall i think this laptop is one of the best out at the moment ...

Notebook market is changing day by day as according to technology growth. Some of reputed manufacturers always try to give some better than previous and they wants to run parallel with technology, so we have some good brands of products and with upgraded technology. Toshiba has its popular range of satellite series notebooks and now sometimes ago they launched business notebook in 17" screen range with latest features and better performance. Due to technology growth, notebook doesn't remain latest one after 5-6 months. So that every notebook that has launched today will be out dated after half an year. Upgradation of notebook is not easy and maximum peoples don't like this as they either go for new product or keep satisfy with old one. SO we can't say that this is new one as an evergreen...

...In my opinion this laptop is very good value for money as it gives everything it primises as well looking and feeling great.
It is sleek and attractive as well as being comfortable and easy to use which I think is very important when choosing a laptop as you don't want an awkward and uncomfortable laptop.
The laptop has quick reactions to what you are asking for as wll as being robust and durable which is very important with a laptop as you have to transport it places while preserving its quality.
It is has a good memory space for the average household, maybe a little more could be needed if for example a household with more than one teenager was using it.
Highly recommend it and would go with Toshiba again when this one packs up....
