Toshiba are a very strong company in regards to their history of building notebooks. They are well established as robust and durable notebooks when dealing with business uses. The Toshiba I personally own I bought from ebay. It was extremely good value and I looked hard for a well specified machine. Buying direct from the Toshiba website would have actually cost me an additional $200 or so, and more importantly for a lower end machine. The beauty behind the Toshiba that I find makes it such a simple machine to use it comprise of basically three main aspects. The notebook comes with rescue disks that if everything goes wrong and you end up formatting the machine all teh factory defaults can be restored within an instant from the provided CD's. My machine came with Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows 98 SE. Giving me amazing flexability. The Toshiba machine has a rugged, durable feel about it and takes a bit of a kicking although I don't recommend it. It also comes with the name that is very reliable when it comes to help online, or off. I was able to have the warranty transferred to my name, so I feel very confident with my new machine. The durabilty feel of the machine does come at a cost however it is not particularly slim 2 inches high and a particular dull grey look about it, not shiny metal top, yet is this a fashion item you seek or just a very, very powerful machine. The nice features about my model being the DVD player this combined with the TV out on the graphics card and the excellent Yamaha sound card provide the basis of most home entertainment systems nowadays. It also proves useful when you wish to use a projector for business conferences or alike, simply plug and play. The TFT screen is 14.1" and is extremely pleasant to look at. Draw backs being sat at a side on view or having direct light that glares off it obscuring what's being displayed. This however is common with all notebooks I've found a typical problem with a TFT screen I believe. To overcome this one can either plug in a TV to have a huge display, or merely plugin a monitor. I hope this basic summary interests you in what truely is a practical machine for games, business and alike.
Advantages: Good layout, reasonable size, reliable Disadvantages: nipple mouse, noisy CD Drive & processor fan
I use the Toshiba laptop as an addition to my HP desktop machine at work.
I find that the Toshiba has all of the features that I need and offers very reliable components. The screen display is clear and big enough to handle a resolution of 1024x768 comfortably. The standby feature is excellent which means not having to boot up from scratch, saving plenty of time. For playing games, it copes adequetly with the latest releases but of course and external ...
