The keyboard has a very crisp feel and very active response. The mouse pad is great also. And the 4 USB ports mean there is no problem if a external mouse is needed.
The screen is standard 15.4 inch. Which is very substantial for a laptop and has a very bright look and good contrast. Adjusting brightness is easy but more of a internal thing. ... more
Firstly I would recommend all buyers to make sure before they purchase their laptop, or for that matter any new computer, that they make sure that the retailer sells the laptop with Microsoft Windows Vista (the new operating system) already installed. It will save you a good bundle.

Extremely reliable as i have had no hardware issues what so ever in 2 years. The casing is strong and the motherboard is not actually on the edge of the laptop casing which means any damage from the usual drops and knocks are superficial. There is built in Wi-Fi which is excellent as nowadays everywhere seems to be a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The keyboard has a very crisp feel and very active response. The mouse pad is great also. And the 4 USB ports mean there is no problem if a external mouse is needed.

This model has a very generous amount of RAM. 1 GB is more than sufficient to run many tasks simultaneously. The DVD drive can read writable and rewritable discs as well as rewrite blank discs itself. Only problem here is that it sometimes finds it difficult to read discs at an angle so you have to make sure that the laptop is on a flat plane (a desk, etc) for the DVD drive to work at it's optimum.
The graphics card is also good but may use up more memory than needed.
Aside from the very few drawbacks this model is great value for money and also stylish in looks.

...could take a few knocks. Toshiba have a nice feature that when the machine gets knocked it automatically moves the hardrive write & read heads to a safe position stoping your data being damaged or lost.
By the way anyone who was put off with Fan glitch problems with A100 models i will tell you now it's not on the A120.
My only complaints about this laptop is that the battery does not last as long as advertised you can get a maximum of 2 1/2 hours ...

Advantages: Extremely Fast in performing its functions, from the simple to the more taxing tasks. Disadvantages: with only a 15.4" screen and 100gb hard drive this is not for all.
...durability and flexibility to work anywhere you wish, especially when considering its inbuilt wireless adapter. Overall i must commend Toshiba for this is a great laptop for the money, with an appeal to the wider market from business to the personal computer, this is truly a great buy. ...

The battery lasts for quite a few hours although I mainly use mine plugged into the mains.
A very good and at the time was priced well, Toshiba has a good support website and advises me when new drivers are availble. ...

Advantages: Tidy and robust Disadvantages: Limited connections
I received my ToshibaA120 yesterday and quickly removed it from the box.
The preinstalled software was easy to setup and the 15.4" monitor is more then adequate.
The Toshiba specific software is good fun and very useful although you will need to create your own recovery disk and unless like me you RTFM there is no other mention of this.
My only complaint is the lack of connections, no s-video or printer port, no com port, you do get 3 usb ports but unless you are going to upgrade you old printer, useless.
These may not affect a first time user but to me I am lost without them.
In closing, for the money this is a cracking little unit the speaker's sound great and the pre-loaded DVD software has all you need for watching and creating your own disk's.
