...actually pretty impressive. Function The notebook works quite well with wireless internet and doesn't cut off often as I have found with wi-fi on some other laptops. It also has an impressive battery life, in a recent car journey, I found it lasted about 3 and 3/4 hours, easily enough time for all of the film I was watching as well as some of another. It is available in two versions, Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP Home., but the Linux has 512Mb of RAM and an 80Gb hard disk, the Windows one has 1Gb of RAM and a 120Gb drive. I personally own the windows version, since I know more about the operating system and prefer the high memory levels. Advantages: Good video encoding, software extras, has "built-in" anti-theft mechanism
Disadvantages: Average in almost everything. Worse everywhere else.

...indigo colour scheme really doesn't bring out the best of this computer and it feel very plasticky, but hey at least it has the most advanced anti-theft feature. No one would steal it as it's too big, too heavy and too ugly. The screen is rather upsetting as well, Sony have given their new VAIO's the black Onyx TFT screens that offer excellent clarity and it's much easier on the eyes. However for the FR415B they thought 'bah it is not a fantastic performer let's just bung a standard TFT on and be done with it'. The screen is alright, but it has very limited viewing angles and the brightness isn't that bright. Sony could of at least given us a torch to go with it. The battery life not as I expected.
