This is a brilliant laptop thats well worth the money. Its light, strong and sturdy and it has very good battery life. The laptop is also quiet and does not get hot, which is good if your resting it on your lap for long periods. You dont get any heat comming through the keyboard or the platsic getting warm on top at all. The laptop has a very comfortable keyboard, with generously sized keys. The fingerprint reader which is very handy can be annoying at times when it rejects your fingerprint if you don't press hard enough. However this is a minor setback and it sitll works great. The screen on the laptop is very good on the eyes, and the matte finnish is good for extended periods when looking at the screen. The preformance of this laptop is very good. It can run several intensive applications and Vmware side by side without breaking a sweat. The graphics preformance of the laptop, though lacking slightly on the 3D and gaming side, excells at HD playback, which is as smooth as one could want.
However, there are some shortfalls. The toshiba software is a little annoying and does slow the machine down a little, and sometimes doesn't work. For example, you can't change the screen brightness and or you can't lock the computer and it wont shut down. The headphone port placed at the front of the laptop below the trackpad is quite odd and I am always knocking into it, and resting on it when I am using the laptop. It also doesn't fare well when watching a DVD (DVD playback preformance is very good and smooth by the way) it can get in the way. The laptop is also rather creaky, and there is some bending of the plastic in certain areas. The screen also seems to be comming slightly loose, after 2 months of use. And the keyboard has worn down quite quickly, more quickly than I would have expected. The screen brightness when at full is also a little dim than some other laptops, but the brigthness is sufficient. The screen is also not the best of quality for photoshop or graphical work, but it does suffice. And this has to be my biggest problem with the laptop, and that is that the trackpad is tiny, and cramped. Which is very annoying.
However, overall the laptop is excellent and I am very pleased with my purchase.
Advantages: Relatively cheap price considering all the functionalities available, Disadvantages: Quite heavy and need a good laptop bag when carrying it around.
