The first thing you notice about this DVD player is it's smooth, sleek design, All black with some silver streaks going horizontally accross the front, you turn it on and see a very cool toshiba logo light up in crisp white lights. Very very slim but quite wide but it makes up for this when you put in your dvd's.
Has output for a surround sound system and can be plugged into your TV via HDMI,or Scart, the max output you'll get through scart is 420p, but with teh HDMI you can choose from 420p, all the way up to 1080p. And you get a free HDMI cable, it's not the best but it still does a damn good job.
This dvd player can also playback almost all pre recorded material without the disc being finalized, which is very handy, if like me you record alot of thing onto DVD. Could have done with the ability to record, but I use another player to record my shows. If you want a recorder aswell as a dvd upscaler then Sony do a very good model for about £90.
When you play your DVD's you can really start to appreciate the technology inside this product, you really notice the diference, The images appear much crisper and colours seem to come alive. Even dark films like underworld appear much better when played via this up-scaler. The player increases the sharpness, adjusts the colour and contrast, that's what XDE technology does.
I personally output via HDMI,1080p onto a 32" Samsung Series 4 TV. And it looks amazing. Overall I'd say that it's great if you have a large DVD collection or if you dont want to fork out big money on a blu ray player. I got mine from play.com, £100 plus sent via Parcelforce on a 24 hour service for free.
