Total War Eras Collection (PC)

Advantages: Great Graphics, Realistic game play.
Disadvantages: Diplomacy, and trouble with large battles.

...Rome Total War is one of the best PC strategy games around if not the best. Its Graphics are unmatched and if you have played Shogun Total War or Medieval you will see the jump in graphics, Sound and Performance jump greatly. It combines many realistic aspects of that era. The only troubles I have encountered with the game is the diplomacy aspects of the game. Some factions forget far to easily and sign alliances strait after a bitter war. This problem has been promised to be solved. Also the amount of patchs that greatly improve gameplay available on the web is amazing. The computers strategies differ and can change. When testing this game to its limits I found that if you exceed 7000 troops in a battle performance drops. This only affect you if you are trying to organise a large scale custom battle, and rarely happens in game play... Read review

...Alright, Bill Gates and the rest of his crew at Microsoft aren't exactly used to real war, especially in Europe in the good ol' days. However, they obviously have been at a library and done some research. This game is pure brilliance. You can get control many different civilisations and have many different wars. They can be either total wars, starting from scratch, tons of resources, trade, missions and even multiplayer. (mind you it is very slow) There are plenty of cheats and options so anyone can play the game, form novice to expert. Unfortuantley, the only Scottish mission is a training one where you perform simple tasks like walking, collecting resources and small wars between only 10 soldiers. The game can be slow at times, especially in multiplayer games and older computers.... Read review

..., the makers of the (Activision) brought in several specialist medieval history experts to help make the plot and play as accurate as possible, along with great weapons and costumes from the time they've definitely succeeded. Also the intelligent AI certainly adds to the difficulty factor. What is Medieval: Total War's longevity? When Medieval: Total War is loaded up into a pc the player can be there for hours taking over armies from the French and Byzantinians to the Pope and Russia. The wars go through 2 eras from early medieval to early industrial when cannons, guns and cleverer armies come in to play. The change of the weapons and battlegrounds definitely adds more life to the so you won't get bored easily.
