Best of Football Teams (Ciao Hitlist)

... However, having been inspired by a recent review by Mr ‘Thespurs’ and a current revolution down at the lane (Tottenham’s stadium) I decided that there is a consumer perspective that warrants a review. After all, I scrape the barrel all year to raise the £700 for my season ... Read review

...citizen) to go and see Tottenham Hotspur Football Club play a game of football, or even £700 to watch a whole season.

What you get for your money

I don’t think the casual supporter should go for a season ticket and instead go along to a few games just to see what its like. An average match day ticket is £30 this season and it is will worth buying one if only to sample the exciting atmosphere of a premiership game, ...
...the experience of being a Tottenham supporter you need to buy a season ticket. For the less enlightened I should explain a season ticket is a ticket that effectively buys you a seat in the stadium for all the teams home league games for a season (and 2 of the cup matches). The prices you are looking at range from £525 for the cheapest up to £1300 for the best seats, I feel though that you can get a good seat for £680 (that’s how much mine costs). ... more

The new cosmopolitan Spurs

Advantages: Great heritage and stadium
Disadvantages: A sleeping giant

...forward to next season. Tottenham Hotspur are under-going a massive transformation. They have recently appointed the current French coach Jaques Santini as the new first team coach. The arrival of Martin Jol, Santini's number two, has been confirmed. The new Sporting Director Frank Arnesen is thought to have been instrumental in the appointment of these two highly regarded figures. The arrival of these new faces, 9 months after Hoddle's departure, ...
...managed in the Premiership before. Tottenham fans will expect this new formula to be a winning one, but if things start poorly they will pile on the pressure. A solid start to the new reign is in order. If Spurs can round off the 2004/05 season in the top half, showing signs of promise, they will have done well. The should hopefully be able to upon that and progress further. I feel I should give a little mention about Chairman Daniel Levy. He has, ...

Audere Est Facere

Advantages: History, Tradition, Attacking football
Disadvantages: Poor recent history, financially weak

...why I am an avid Tottenham supporter, not at all. My Father is a Liverpool supporter, the rest of the family hate Football and I was brought up in Sheffield where I was the one and only Spurs supporter in my School ! My earliest memory of Football is the 1980/81 F.A Cup final when my Father sat me down to watch the game with him, it was between Tottenham and Manchester City, almost straight away the game completely took my imagination but the superior ...
...to watch the replay and Tottenham won it 3-2 mainly thanks to one of the greatest ever F.A Cup final goals from Ricky Villa who took on half the City side before slotting home. I was elated and was confident I had made the right choice about my team, we were the best ! Well things didn't exactly go to plan, in the preceding 23 years we have won 3 further trophies (1 F.A cup, 1 League cup and 1 UEFA cup) so that's one trophy every 7.6 years since ...

Girls support top clubs too.

Advantages: A great team to support
Disadvantages: Not great of late

...over 20 years and a Tottenham supporter for almost as long. Being female we were never given the opportunity at school to ‘mess up our clothes’ with a good old kick about in the park and had to stick to the more refined sport of hockey - as this did not involve attacking the oppositions side with studded boots, but a wooden stick instead. Being from Sussex the girls in my school also had to learn the rules of Stoolball - similar to rounders. Writing ...
...and nobody would argue that Tottenham Hotspur possess all of the vital qualities needed to be classed as great. On 5th September 1882, the Hotspur Football Club was formed and the first subscriptions for players was taken. There were appropriately just 11 founder members - E. Beaven, Bobby Buckle (1st captain), Fred Dexter, Stuart Leaman, E Wall, J Anderson, T Anderson, L Casey, Ham Casey, Jack Thompson and Peter Thompson. During the year a further ...

C'mon you Spurs

Advantages: Can be great, loyal fans, great players
Disadvantages: Instability, not living up to potential

...saw the glory that was Tottenham Hotspur, and decided to swim against the tide and support the Spurs. When I was going to see them at about aged 14 (1974) Spurs had just won the UEFA cup, two recent league cups, Bill Nicholson was our manager and they had stars like: Pat Jennings Martin Chivers Steve Perryman Martin Peters Cyril Knowles (nice one Cyril) Alan Gilzean And although we have not one the premiership/league since I have been a fan, ...

Oldies and signings

Advantages: New players coming through, versatile players, look in op.
Disadvantages: Not great in any section, old players, look in op.

When Glenn Hoddle came back to Spurs he said he wanted instant succes and wanted to win something this season. So he decided to bring in experienced, old players who can still play very good at the top level. And the new team are doing quite well but have had two bad results against Hoddle's former club Saints and the against Ipswich, they are currently lying in 7th with 28 points, Hoddle has also mixed the team around a little by giving young players ...
...made one strange decision in my opinion by selling Luke Young for 4.5 million to Charlton who i think is a young prospect for England given time he would succeed and he has had a few injurys halting his progress but still he should have stayed but may be Spurs needed the money. He has also sent out Matthew Etherington another young prospect who came from Peterborough to Bradford on loan. 30 years old or over signings made by Glenn Hoddle: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ...

Champions, but not yet

Advantages: A great team , lots of potentail, champions soon
Disadvantages: Too young now

It?s obvious for all to see that Leeds United are going places. Things have just got better and better for Leeds since Howard Wilkinson was sacked and replaced with George Graham. Straight away Graham began investing in youth and only now are we seeing the benefits of this with players like Harry Kewell, Matthew Jones and Alan Smith. Under George Graham Leeds qualified for Europe and began to compete against even the top sides. Good players such as the unknown Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Boavista and Lee Bowyer form Charlton for just £5,500,000 in total. In 1998 Graham unbelievably left to manage Tottenham Hotspur just two days after a 3-3 draw against them at White Hart Lane. David O?Leary took over after first saying he didn?t want the job and in his first full season took Leeds to third after leading for most of the way ...

The Hammers fans deserve better

Advantages: No matter who the squad consists of, the football is always entertaining
Disadvantages: The board need to put more into the club and take out less

Being a lifelong Westham fan, I have been amused over the years, by the constant insistance that they will never amount to anything other than a yo-yo team. The 00/01 season saw the emergence of a strong Squad, with three potential England internationals in Carrick,Cole and Defoe. Stadium enhancements in hand, the future looked promising. Unfortunately, the Upton park curse of entertaining football combined with poor results led to the exit from the FA cup by Tottenham Hotspurs, a poor finish in the league and "hammered" a final nail in the coffin for one of the premierships most settled managers, Harry Rednapp. The new season commenced earlier today and despite the summer exit of some key players, fans saw a gritty performance ending in yet another familiar defeat. So, will they ever change? I believe the answer lies ...

Obafemi Martins review

Advantages: Explosive pace, power, shooting, excellent heading
Disadvantages: not the greatest passer or defender

Obafemi Martins is a striker for Newcastle United Football Team (or soccer team depending on where you live) and is one of my favourite players. I have the privilege to watch him play every two weeks or so as I have a season ticket, and it is always an exciting game when he plays. He is explosive, he can run the 100m sprint in less than 11 seconds, and has such powerful shots that one of them is a contender for the fastest goal ever in the Premier league ( the screamer he scored against Tottenham Hotspurs). However, because of his unpredictability he sometimes misplaces passes or runs as his team mates sometimes do not always know what he is thinking. I would suggest checking him out by watching some of his old videos of when he played for Inter Milan, or watch him when Newcastle or Nigeria play (he is a Nigeria international) as he can ...
