Advantages: great fun Disadvantages: some terrible accents
Grease is currently touring Britain with Hayley Evetts in the lead role. Hayley reached the top ten in the first series of Pop Idol and has presented several tv shows and entered Eurovison for us since then. I saw Grease at the New Oxford Theatre in February 2006. Grease premiered on Broadway in 1972, being turned into a movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in 1978. Over the years there have been several famous actors playing the part ......Richie. Grease is set in the 1950's. It stands the test of time because it was already dated in 1978 when it was made, therefore you don't look at the film and get the feeling that it was made years ago. THE STORY +++++++++ Danny and Sandy meet at the beach and fall in love. they meet up again unexpectedly at school. Danny is cool and cant let the guys see how he really feels. Sandy is hurt about this and is teased for being so square and boring. ... Read review
Advantages: Great special effects with the car Disadvantages: acting was very poor
...instance in the scene when Chitty turns into a hovercraft the back of the stage is a boat coming head on. This gives the audience another point of view to look at the play from. In this way they managed to give everyone in the auditorium a different angle on what was happening. I also thought that the scene with the hot air balloon was very well staged. The way that it appeared in front of the screen in mini size was almost comical and once again ......I will remember the flying Chitty and how it was extremely well executed, probably done by using a hydraulic lift. It looked very realistic and gave the impression that the car was actually flying. In my opinion the overall standard of the play was good, and I did enjoy it but I felt that it was aimed at people younger or much older than me, so my interest was occasionally lost at some points during the play. I think that the acting was good but ... Read review

Introduction “We Will Rock You” is currently rocking the Playhouse Theatre in Edinburgh, and in addition it is still running at the Dominion Theatre in London, where it opened in 2002. The show is based around the music of Queen and it’s the music that is the main draw for this show which has been a huge commercial success, if not so much a huge critical one. I was fortunate enough to be able to see the Edinburgh show with my daughter, who got ......the “X Factor”. You can’t miss the fact “We Will Rock You” is playing here – there are ads everywhere, along with a huge Freddie Mercury statue in the Omni Centre, next door to the Playhouse Theatre, so she asked me if she could go. The Plot The concept behind the show was thought up by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Ben Elton. The show is set far into the future, where real music is banned in a totalitarian state called Planet Mall which is run ... Read review
Advantages: A brilliant night out Disadvantages: Slightly scary
I saw Derren Brown in Cardiff this week and he was absolutely amazing! He was funny, professional, clever and slightly scary! In all a great showman. He did a huge number of amazing tricks - walking on broken glass, reading people's minds, sending out subliminal messages that made people HAVE to go up to the stage! This is for you if you want a fun night out that will make you think, make you laugh and make you slightly afraid and totally in awe ......is thinking! In all it was a great night out - as shown by the standing ovation that he got at the end! It was very like the tv series but much funnier and more in depth and therefore more interesting as you watch these tricks before your eyes and KNOW that he is the scariest man alive! :-) ...
