After having played Gran Turismo since it's first incarnation some 5+ Years ago I was Quite looking forward to playing this game .... Was I Disappointed ? .... Erm ! NO ... Pleasantly surprised Polyphony Digital Delivered the goods .
If you have ever ridden a Motorcycle in real life then you'll know how badly most computer games replicate this Unique experience .... Well not anymore .
Take the basics of the Car Racing game Gran Turismo & you get the general jist of the idea ... Although with one major change . No money is involved in this game , You can't buy bikes , You Only earn them by completing races & Challenges. This was a bit off putting for me at first , but you soon get used to it . I must say that I would have liked the option to play it "The Old Way" as I really enjoyed browsing through GT1 - 4's Second hand market after every couple of races to see if I could spot anything rare .
You can choose bikes from manufacturers like Bmw , Aprilia , Honda , Yamaha , Suzuki e.t.c
There is qujite a wide choice available from Supermoto's to Race replicas to cruisers & even some scooters thrown in for good measure .. LOL , So this should keep the majority of gamers happy. Most of them have a race prepared version that can be used for special race meets . You can also upgrade certain items on the bikes including exhaust , brake settings e.t.c , Although I would have liked to have seen more available on this front afterall it is a simulation....
Graphics : 9/10 .... Generally the graphics in the game are excellent , In my opinion the only thing that really lets the game down are the way that the handlebars when viewing the bikes from a 1st person perspective look a bit "Fake" , They mostly seem to be a bit jagged in appearance & really badly superimposed on top of what appears to be the standard face forward view. & some guages actually work on some oif the bikes & on others they don't ... Surely if you are going to do it , do it on all bikes ..One good idea though that I saw when first setting up the game is that you input your height & this adjusts the on bike view to give you a perspective that you would expect to find in RL whilst riding these bikes.
As with ANY Polyphony Digital game the replays after the races are Fantastic. I spent many a time just sat there replaying these over & over as they really did look that good . The rider movement on the bikes is nice a fluid & you can always get your knee down on corners if you so desire. You can also set your rider up to ride the bike in your own style ... Although seeing a guy ride a GSXR1000 in a supermoto style looks kind of weird , but funny
Sound : 8/10 Very good , One of the things that disappointed me on half decent PS2 Race games Riding Spirits 1 & 2 is the fact that the bike sounds were awful ! , in my opinion this is one of the things that can make or break this genre of game. It may look beautiful & handle like a dream , but if you are riding a big 4 cylinder Superbike & it sounds like a put , put 50cc scooter then the dream is shattered in an instance.
Gameplay : 7/10 Very good , Although as said earlier I would have liked the option to play the game in the old GT Money style buying bikes as I go , They say that it's to combat the fact that most people had to race & re-race just to get money for bikes , but this was the fun in it for me , Learning the tracks , making minor adjustments , not running a single race & getting a bike as a reward , this kind of kills the game a bit for me... So Polyphony Digital if you ever happen to read this & you do make Tourist Trophy 2 , Please give us the option = )

Final verdict .... If you have a PS2 & like Bikes , then I suggest you get this game , or at least rent it ! , Oh ! & don't play it like a pussy .. Use the on bike view ...
Hope you enjoyed this review , It is based purely on my views on the game & if you found it helpful please rate it & comment if you so desire ...
