Yet to me they are the most sexy looking tyre around, if tyres can be sexy! I mean the tread pattern of course! I had toyos all around on my RS Turbo. The grip level was unreal and the depth of tread great. The tyres on my Tub were standard size 195/50/15's and a tyre that low in profile normally loses a lot of its tread in order to cater for the profile. Not the Toyo. It has a very wide tread pattern. Making a lot of contact with the road while giving it enough play to movce around and keep you stuck down.
In the wet, the wide tread allowed the car to tip toe through the water rather than slip and slide through it.
They dont just cater for quick cars. You can pick up a nice tyre for your family saloon or hatchback too. The range seems to grow year after year as more people try them out.
Longevity? Well, they were still looking like new when I sold the Tub. They had clocked 15,000 miles up on them without loking worn. That is suprising thinking about the way it ate a set of firestones in about 4 months!
Price? Well I paid £50 each for mine so they are slightly more than your Firestones or budget tyre and along the same price as Pirelli, Goodyear and Dunlop.
So Toyo make attractive and practical tyres at an affordable price.
The only bad side is not many places stock them. You may need to shop around for them.
Advantages: V shaped tread means excellent road handling in the wet. Good grip, well made tyres Disadvantages: pricey
...can highly recommend the tyre to anyone. They aren’t cheap though, mine set me back £132 each. But this is the sort of brand built to last. They’re worth it, trust me. Note - there are a number of Toyo types. My review is for the Proxes T1-R ...

...anything!). Then I came across Toyo tyres, little known at the moment in this country and rediculed by some. Why rediculed? Because they were different and were not a named brand, thats why.
The Toyo is a softer compound tyre (meaning it wears more readily) however they are alot cheaper than the majority of named brands.
My Tuscan requires 255/40/18s so not the cheapest to buy for, however the cheapest I could get were just under £100 each. Trust ... ...of that size.
Once they were on the car the handling was transformed. Off the lights the grip was brilliant and I experienced what it was like to get to 60 mph very very very quickly. Corners!!!! Another thing I now love. Approach them with reasonable speed trust in the tyres and by gently accelerating at the exit you can slide the back end out nicely. With the previous tyres I would have ended up seeing where I had just been!!!
Durability - Being ...

Advantages: grippy and wear well Disadvantages: not too many stockists
...I replaced the Ecocontacts with Toyo Roadpro R610s as I had heard a few whispers that Toyo were quite good. These were as grippy as the other tyres and wore surprisingly well, the roadholding being quite good too.
I therefore went to my local stockist (found from a postcode search at Toyos UK website) and asked for the prices of the R610s in the size 195-60-15. Unfortunately they only had three tyres in, but they did have four Toyo Proxes T1s 205-60-15 ... ...can strike - again the Toyo UK website has a guide on what size tyres will fit your car.
The Proxes are much higher performance tyres than the Roadpros, and again I have heard good things about them. A deal was done. Just under £300 for four tyres, balanced, new valves, and a tracking check. If you do have new tyres fitted, make sure they use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts rather than an air gun....some cars can get warped brake disks ...

Advantages: Hard wearing and good value Disadvantages: Not very good in wet.
...from my point of view toyo tyres are good for your money, but only in the dry. Wet weather driving with these tyres was like being on ice most of the time, because they are hard wearing I found them to be slippy and not much feed back from them during wet conditions. In the dry though they are great tyres got good heat into them and they did hold again feed back was not the best, but as in most cases you pay your money. These tyres are good for the ... ...ok. But if you happen to be a bit of a fast road user and go out when wet please be careful with these tyres. Now I know 99% of the people who read this will most likely not race there car or try and take a corner at high speed but only want a set of tyres that last long and are reliable, these are perfect for that, and your everyday commute or long drive to a summer break, of course all this is just my opinion and I am sure all of you will be able ...

Advantages: Reasonable price, great grip Disadvantages: None
...idependant tyre fitters reccomended me Toyo 350. They were roughly the same price as the rest of the branded tyres and decied to give them a go.
I tend to drive a lot on small country roads frequently covered in puddles, mud, leaves ect. The level of grip they offer is very good, i have noticed a positive difference in the levels of grip when breaking and cornering when the conditions are not great. This is in comparison to the Dunlop tyres i had ... ...fuel economy. After 5000 miles they seem to be in good condition with plenty of grip left.
Looking at the Toyo web site these tyres have been specifically designed for small cars and they seem to have done a fantastic job. A great overall trye for a small car ...

Advantages: Grippy in the dry and not as fast wearing as others Disadvantages: Not the safest in the wet, stick with Toyo, Michelin or Eagle F1s
I have these tyres on my 17" track wheels and have found myself with quite a mixed view of them.
In the dry they are fantastic, they have excellent grip, and the compound is not too soft, thus ensuring a good wear rate for daily driving
However in the wet they are absolutely shocking. The tyres I have fitted are 215 40 17 so aren't lacking in contact area. I drive a Ford Focus which is lowered on coilovers to the tune of -50mm. Even with the drop in ride height they severely struggle for grip in the wet, anything more than a gentle bend at more than 40mph and you are in trouble with these tyres
In conclusion, great dry tyres that don't wear perhaps as quick as the Toyo Proxes T1R, but you are sacrificing a lot of wet weather grip in my experience ...
Advantages: Good performance and great brakes - Wolf in sheeps clothing - good on a B road blast Disadvantages: Not so good on the motorway or in town
of their own paragragh. Apart from the unfortunate issue mentioned in the first section, the brakes on this car are its best feature. I read somewhere that it shares the same discs as the NSX! A bold statement perhaps, but after owning this car I can believe it. The combination of those brakes, Mintex pads, Koni suspension and Toyotyres has actually made me momentarily pin myself to my own seatbelt! AND it made me crick my neck the other day! They can come up to temperature and work that little bit better than anticipated just when I was expecting the ABS to kick in. The result is uncontrolled body movement (mine!).
Now, when I drive the wife's Fiesta, I often wheelspin out of of one junction (unintentionally) and struggle to get it slowed down for the next. ...

very good, but if you push too hard then it?s more difficult to ?catch? than a RWD car, but you wouldn?t normally reach the limit in normal driving although more care is required in the wet.
One important thing to check are the brand and model of the tyres as this can make a dramatic difference to handling. Changing from economy tyres to Toyo Proxy S1?s changed the handling from pretty dreadful to great. Also regularly check tyre pressures as this effects handling more than normal.
Haven?t had particularly good experiences with main dealers but that goes for all makes, depends if you?re luck or not.
If you?re buying second hand then they also keep their value well which is always a bonus. ...
