A Toy(ota) for 2
Advantages: proper sports car, reliable, flip up headlights Disadvantages: short on power, noisy on motorways/high speed
...good, my father is a Toyota monk, driven them for 20 years, cut him in half it would say Toyota thorough him like a stick of rock. It just that Japanese cars are like white goods, they don't really capture the soul of what driving is about, they are too functional, but not one to judge before I drive them it's on with the tail.
A little research later I decided that a closer inspection was needed of this car as one of the pluses for the MR2, it ... ...Is it an import? Toyota flog these puppies world wide (French don't seem to buy em?) so you will need to check if it's an import from the Land of the rising sun. Heard the term 'grey import'? This means that it's from Japan and not a UK spec car, this in itself has pro's and con's.
The Pro's are that they have a different and usually better spec than the British ones, you can have a turbo version if you get a Jap one which is great but the con's? ...

Toyota MR2
Advantages: Handling, Looks, Maintenance Disadvantages: Storage
...2005, purchased from a main Toyota dealer with one previous owner. The car was 8 months old - purchased with 3,500 miles on the clock.
My MR2 is black, black leather, 6-speed with hardtop, a/c pretty much all extras available.
It has been an absolute pleasure to own and very inexpensive to run for a sports car - in fact to date I have only had repair costs of replacing the brake discs, everything else continues to operate perfectly. The car handles ...

Is this the future of motoring?
Advantages: Running costs, low emissions, features, reliable Disadvantages: Fuel consumption could be better
...too.
HISTORY OF THE TOYOTA PRIUS
Work started in 1994 & the original Prius was introduced in 1997 & two years later in the UK. It was years ahead of its time & due to the enormous cost of producing the special battery that powers the car, Toyota subsidised the cost to allow the public to buy the car at an affordable price.
It never sold in great numbers, however when the second version was introduced (and the subject of this review) with many ... ...a couple of years after Toyota but never had the same success, now many other car makers are developing their versions so hybrids will become more popular.
Are they the answer to our problems? Are these cars any good in the real world?
THE TOYOTA PRIUS
I was fortunate enough to drive two separate models in different circumstances over the period of three days a couple of months ago. One was driven around a city for two days & one on a longer journey ...

Today, Tomorrow, Toyota
Advantages: TR model has good specification, good fuel consumption Disadvantages: Some may find styling a little dull
I have owned my Toyota Avensis TR 2.2 D-4D for just over one year now and have covered around 25000 miles, having purchased an ex demonstrator model on an 08 plate in Nov 08 with just over 1500 miles on the clock. I commute quite a distance to work and use my car for business trips around twice a month and so my driving is mostly motorway or fast A road/dual carriage way driving, with little heavy town driving in my normal routine. When shopping ... ...Servicing and Reliability - the Toyota warranty requires that the car has a full service every 20000 miles and an oil and filter change every 10000 miles. As I had actually done 10000 miles 3 months after acquiring the car last year, then servicing costs were a concern to me. My local dealer does offer interest free payment options for signing into a three year servicing option, which includes a 10% saving off the list price, although this was not ...
