This is the Toyota variant of the new three way collaboration with Peugeot and Citroën - this has created a new factory in the Czech Republic and three new cars, the Aygo, the Citroën C1 and the Peugeot 107. Each of them is basically the same underneath, but all look slightly different externally. Aside from that the main difference is branding, equipment, colours and pricing.
I was lucky enough to have an Aygo for a week recently ... ...a Citroën interior than a Toyota one, but with the Toyota feeling of quality.
It may be basic and small, and cheap too, but it still has all the equipment you'll need - radio/cd player, power steering, airbags, ABS, air-con (in some variants), front electric windows (likewise) etc.

I was lucky enough to have an Aygo for a week recently and it's a fantastic little car. It doesn't pretend to be something it isn't, unlike some cars these days, and nor does it come with a whole heap of superfluous equipment. I had a 1.0 litre Sport variant, in the ice blue colour.
The first impressions were good - it arrived on a lovely sunny day so I could get a good look at it. It looked bigger than I expected from the pictures I'd seen, and really quite funky and interesting. The interior is a great piece of packaging, aside from the boot, and has enough space for four adults to sit in.
Build quality - totally up to Toyota's normal high standards, and I suspect better than Peugeot and Citroën's usual efforts. The paint finish on the car was much better than in some much more expensive cars, and everything was fitted together well. The interior felt very solid, while looking a bit more like a Citroën interior than a Toyota one, but with the Toyota feeling of quality.
It may be basic and small, and cheap too, but it still has all the equipment you'll need - radio/cd player, power steering, airbags, ABS, air-con (in some variants), front electric windows (likewise) etc.
It's very easy to drive, and quite good fun too. For a small car it even manages reasonable length journeys pretty well, although the engine gets a bit louder at higher speeds, but it will quite happily sit at 70 (and a little bit faster) on the motorway. The seats are comfortable and the majority of the controls all fall easily to hand.
The niggles - the boot is small, very small in fact. It's fine for day to day running about but if you need something bigger more than the odd occasion then it's not really for you. That is the major one that would put me off having one. The parcel shelf in the boot just gets in the way too, so I would probably take it out and leave it out. The opening to the boot, just being the rear window extended a bit, is a little awkward as well.
That leads me on to another point - the cost cutting. Generally this isn't a bad thing because it isn't essential items that have been cut. The interior is good as it is. The engine is pretty decent and responds well. The car feels solidly built to last. I'm not completely convinced by the rear windows pivoting open like some three door cars, rather than winding down, though it does provide adequate ventilation.
It's very fuel efficient (claimed combined mpg of 60) and cheap to run. It doesn't cost much to buy and is in the cheapest insurance group possible. It will appeal to people who don't want something expensive and don't need something expensive.
It also has ... something. I don't know what, exactly, but I couldn't help but warm to it. It's not pretending to be something it isn't - none of this supermini pretending to be a luxury car or anything like that. It's a cheap car built to be reliable transport for your average needs. Much like an original Mini did in its day, though I doubt this will ever get that sort of cult following.
A thumbs up from me then, and I'd make sure you give it a good hard look if you're looking for something in that size.
Advantages: Quite cheap, very cheap insurance and running costs, quality Disadvantages: Too small, expensive extras
Go easy on me, this is my first review.
My trust Polo recently decided it had seen better days and was in need of a rest so I decided to start looking around for second hand cars. A relative has an Aygo so to get a feel of the car I traded for the week to get a good feel of the car.
At first I was not too keen on the overall look of the car, it seems like it is very squashed on first impression but it does really grow on you. It looks kind of sporty ... ...is all black, selecting the colouring is very peculiar as certain colours only come in certain types of the car (so you have to pay thousands more to get a certain colour which is off putting). Very small boot, I could just about fit in all my shopping in there, and my German Shepherd wouldn't be too pleased in getting flattened in there for her walks!
An average price for an Aygo is about £7,000, I was tempted to look at brand new models as they ...

Advantages: Easy to park, Easy to Drive, not to mention Georgous Disadvantages: Blind Spot
I purchased one of these gorgous little cars back in March (wanted the new plate!) I was very scared as it was my first purchase of a new car and had spent quite a bit on this car more than i had on my first car. But i have to say 9 months and 10,000 miles later i LOVE it! It has given me no problems whatsoever. For me a city girl who needs a sexy little run around that wont let her down this is the perfect car.
Even people who say it is too small ... ...everyone was comfortable. The boot is on the smaller side (hachbacks always are) but i have had a pushchair and a few bags of shopping in there no problem. The fact that it already had a CD player was a great bonus this car has everything you would expect in a higher class car but for a cheaper price tag, the electric windows, the power steering and also an AUX(audio/MP3) imput to play your music through.
The only thing i would say is bad for this ...

Advantages: small sturdy and reliable Disadvantages: Tiny boot and basic
As a 17 year old learning today like most I was desperate for a car, luckily I got a good deal for a new aygo. For a learner you couldnt ask for more a very small engine keeping insurance road tax and all those other little costs down.
Learning in it is perfect, the wing mirrors offer a huge range of vision. The car is small enough to fit in to all kinds of little parking spaces. Even though it is a small little car it is still quite quick, with ... ...Even the most basic modle has everything that you coudl really need, CD and radio with the ability to conect to any MP3 players that you need. The back seats can fit 2 people in comfortable, however if you are much over 6 foot then a long journey in the back definatly wouldnt be comfortable. The most basic modle although stylish and comfortable does lack basic functions these mainly being air con and electric windows. However the seats are incredible ...

...Type R to buy a Toyota Aygo (rising fuel and insurance costs, and ability to teach my spouse to drive).
I was very pleasantly surprised on my first test drive; the Aygo's 67bhp engine was much more lively that I expected it would be (MUCH better than the old 1.2L Corsa we had; obviously nothing like a 198bhp Civic Type R but the Aygo certainly doesn't feel sluggish). I've had the Aygo two months now, and it's been fantastic. The engine takes 600 ... ...period. The car looks - to my eyes - much better than the internally-identical Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107. And the 1.0L engine sips at fuel, giving me about 60mpg driving to and from work in town and a touch of motorway running. Although initially the car felt nice to drive, it has a 'certain something' that has grown on me and I enjoy driving it day to day. It's difficult for me to pinpoint what it is that attracts me to it, but it's there.
The ...

Advantages: Cheap tax, cheap insurance, excellent mpg. Disadvantages: Poor Gearbox, uncomfortable on long journeys.
After owning the car for nearly 3 years have had a mixed experience with my ToyotaAygo, first the good, its cheap to run being insurance group 1 and very cheap tax (£35 a year) and also does about 63mpg which is excellent, the sport model comes with 14" alloy wheels, spot lights, tachometer and has a 5 speed semi automatic gearbox. Around town this car is excellent, very nippy and easy to get into the tightest of parking spaces, it handles well, if your looking for a relatively cheap car to buzz around town i would definitely consider the Aygo. Now for the bad, first of all the gearbox is not great, it has been juddering pretty much from day one and is very slow in gear change in the economic/auto mode. Also this car is not great if you plan on doing a lot of motorway miles, the engine just does not have the power and its not the most ...
