I bought a black M regToyota MR2 from a local garage, 54000 miles mint condition, I traded in my G regToyota Celica and gave him 1800 pounds, which was a good deal, as he wanted 5500 for it.
After dreaming about them since passing my test I was finally the proud owner.
My first drive I was quite disappointed it wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Maybe I had too higher expectations but my dreams were shattered I felt like going back to the garage, then a few roundabouts, stops and starts at traffic lights, the looks from other drives I started to enjoy my experience.
The car wasn’t as fast as I would have expected but maybe that is due to being seated so low.
My first purchase was some black turtle wax that cost me nearly 10 pounds, I polished my little sports car till I could see my smile in the paintwork. I developed great mussels in my arms, as I waxed on waxed off then I had some amazing news but also some bad news.
My wife was pregnant! Very happy but…….. The car would now have to go.
I had the car for 4 months before selling it for 5,000 pounds, it needed new back tires, which I was quoted £250 each. So I didn’t do too bad. I now have a 5 door Astra
I miss my Mr2 but I feel I have now got it out of my system I dreamed, I owned but maybe one day just maybe I might get another!!
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Advantages: Handling developbed by Lotus, stuning looks, perfect reliability. A1 examples still under £5,000. Disadvantages: Rust kills most of them, lots of very rough examples out there - especialy T-Bars.
