You know when an incredibly hyped-up film like Transformers is released there's going to be a heck of a lot of side merchandise following it - and so the release of this game on the Xbox 360 wasn't really a surprise to me.
--Synopsis-- The synopsis for the game will probably appeal to anyone with a destructive side and a tendency to want to root for the bad guys - you can either play a campaign as the Autobots, the goody-goody robots trying to protect Sam, the film's protagonist (the game contains major spoilers so I would watch the film first if you haven't already) or as the Decepticons, the evil robots hellbent on seemingly blowing everything up. Add in a few...extremely...deep...yet...painfully... overpronounced...voices like someone out of CSI and you've got your game.
--Gameplay-- You start off with a nice little intro that clears everything up. Instantly you'll be hit with the graphics - excellent. You then choose which side you'll be playing on, and then it shows you the controls for that Transformer. One thing I like about this is it actually lets you read these controls before you progress, rather than just hoping you've got some kind of photographic memory and can take it in in 5 seconds, which is nice of them.
If you play as the Autobots you start off play as Bumblebee but will also get to play as Optimus Prime and a few others. You basically are just given the missions of destroying Decepticons, which starts to wear thin after a while. Sometimes game play is broken up with something a bit different like a car chase, but otherwise its all a bit 'same-y'. You have a map in the bottom right hand corner which is clear and easy to read and you also can pick up power-ups like life and 'secrets' of which there are 100 scattered all over the game (for each character, I believe). At the beginning of each chapter you get a cut screen which tells you your mission.
During the game you are given a 'rating' - as an Autobot you are expected to kill enemies and not destroy things - although this is hard to help as everything acts like it's made out of polystyrene. The more you act good, you are given a heroic rating. The opposite, a destructive rating.
Of course, when you play as the Decepticons you try and do the opposite - cause as much destruction as possible. Your first task is simply to completely DESTROY an air base. Great fun, but quite difficult, actually.
Although the game seems quite simple on paper its actually quite tricky - your time limits aren't exactly generous. But I don't usually play games like this so maybe I'm just not used to this type.
--Graphics and Sound-- I must admit the graphics are a lot better than I had thought - everything does look very realistic, apart from the whole falling-apart-town thing. Every little thing is thought of - when you walk around you shatter the concrete of the pavements and the controller vibrates, for example. The voice overs are well done, even if a little annoying.
--Controls-- The controls aren't really that bad - they're simple but that's not necessarily a good thing as you tend to spend a lot of time pressing the same button and not playing with many of the others. The camera controls tend to get a little hairy at times, but nowhere near as bad as some games I have played.
--Extras-- This section is quite short as, really there are no extras. There is no 2 player, no Xbox live capability, and most of the achievements are 'secret' so you don't really have anything to work to.
--Summary-- This game is a very acquired taste. If you love blowing things up, love Transformers and yet love a rather simply controlled game (yet with a bit of a challenge overall) then this game is for you. If not, I would either borrow it or not bother as you'll get bored very easily.
Advantages: robots look great, great idea Disadvantages: not very good gamespan, annoying mission failures
...my cup of tea.
Score - 2/5
Overall:
I think that overall it's a good game if you're not looking for anything spectacular! If you want a really good transformers game, then go for Transformers: Armaded on PS2. That's how a transformers game should be!
Overall score - 10/20 ...

After walking out of the cinema all giddy and child-like after watching the movie I couldnt wait to get my hands on the game. When it arrived I ran to my console and put it in and waited anxiously for it to load. On loading the first mission my first impression was WOW!!!! The graphics were gorgeous. The Transformers themselves looked amazing. As I started playing and enjoyed running around stomping on things, climbing up buildings and transforming ... ...else to the game.
Yes its one of the better movie to game conversions but it could have been something so much better. The missions are all so unfortunately repetitive. They all basically involve getting to a point and bashing the same button over and over again to defeat the enemies. The weapons the Transformers have are useless, instead you spend the whole game using the punch/smash attack.
The missions tie in vaguely to the story of the film, ...

Advantages: Good graphics, sticks to story Disadvantages: Missions can be repetitive
This game is good. You can play as autobot or decepticon. If your intending to watch the film, the game may give away a lot of the plot. As an autobot your mission is to prtocet Sam Whitakey from the evil decepticons, and stop the power of the cube destoying the Earth. As a decepticon your mission is to also find the cube, but Sam is the key. Missions can be quite tricky, but achievments are easy to come buy. Both sets of robots transform with adequate ... ...races which are opened up by discovering some of the 100 cubes scattered through out the world. Your first achievement is just for transforming into a robot from a car. Overall a good game, especially if you like destoying things, always look on the roofs for the hidden cubes as a lot of them are up there. ...

Advantages: You can destroy lot's of things. Disadvantages: Not captivating at all.
That's how I describe this game in one word, I could use more words like, Crap, Cheap and Same old same old but I'm not gonna waste any more time on this game because it's not worth it, go buy something else like a toilet brush or something because even that is more entertaining than this... well okay I'll tell you what's good about this game it's not alot, come to think of it... it's only one thing that you can destroy everything but that gets old ... ...other games, but they thought it was easy money making a game where you could destroy everything and then putting the transformers name on it... so I'd like to say to the developers that they should start making something that's fresh and plays well until then... don't make any more games! ...

Advantages: Superb gameplay, realistic, addictive, good online Disadvantages: None at all
I remember playing the older Call Of Duty games back a few years ago on the Playstation 1 and although they were good, they never really stood out as anything special. However, with the advent of the PS3, the X-Box360 and high definition, Activision have transformed Call Of Duty into possibly the best game currently available.
In terms of gameplay Call Of Duty 5 is a relatively easy game and I managed to complete it within a few days and now have access to the zombie level. The zombie level itself is pretty good but it does tend to get a bit tedious after a while. The feel of the game in general (campaigns) really does put you into the feel of war and is very realistic. The levels are so manic and there is so much going on to try and take in that it genuinely feels like you've been dumped in the middle of a full scale war.

Advantages: you can drive tanks, release a pack of vicious dogs are you kill 7 enemies in a row. Disadvantages: more maps, more weapons choice but im being really picky here!!
Activision have done it again and this time transforming you back to WWII, if you were a huge fan of COD4 you will not be dissapointed, this game for either Xbox360 or Ps3 has captured the gaming world by storm and is probably at this moment in time the most played game online, if your looking for realism true sound and amazing graphics this has it all, there was a lot of talk before the release that this wouldnt be able to compete with the much loved COD4 but in my opinion it is just as good but in a different time zone (hence taking you back to WWII). If you are looking for a true combat and addictive game for hours of pleasure this one will be right down your street and wont let you down, it really is that good!. some points to remember in this game when playing online, after so many points are earned after each match your rank goes ...
Advantages: Very realistic and highly addictive, show off your management credentials Disadvantages: You may beome void of a social life!
the challenges never seem to end (like real management). Even if you have won the title for the last 3 seasons, there is always a challenge to maintain the hunger in your players or control there ego, then there is injuries, players retire or pass their peak, it is a continual evolution.
This game isn't for everyone, at the beginning it used to be a very niche market but slowly as the game has developed millions of have found this game enjoyable. Nevertheless there are gamers who want instant action, thrills and spills or have no interest in football then they may find this game rather boring.
For many this will be an excellent release and a highly addictive one. The transformation to Xbox360 enhances the game further allowing better visuals and a smoother game playing process. For a footie fan this is a must, no other management game is this ...
