Avoid Direct Travel Insurance Advantages: V. Cheap Disadvantages: You get what you pay for Direct Travel Insurance - Avoid! My wife, Jill, was diagnosed with breast cancer on August 29, 2008. We had our holiday booked for September 8 so I asked Direct Travel Insurance for a claim form. The form arrived from AIG around September 3. AIG are the company Direct Travel Use to process their claims. It had four pages of A4. Three to be filled in by me and one by Jill's doctor. OK so far. After lot's of ink and £25 for the doctor, I returned ... ...signed by the doctor stated that Jill had a hospital appointment for the day we were due to fly. Despite this, AIG continued to turn awful into horror. After about three weeks a letter arrived from AIG asking for the tickets. They knew we were flying with JET2.com, which is a ticketless airline but AIG appeared to have forgotten. I reminded them. Jill had two operations while AIG prevaricated. Mick Advantages: Good help desk Disadvantages: Let me down when I needed them at the help desk too Most policys seem to be the same so maybe I am harsh. I flew to Germany with Ryan Air and on the return the flight was cancelled due to fog. This cancellation in accordance to EU reglations 261/2004 is beyond the control of the airline so they are not liable for your costs and they did not have another flight for 48 hours. Quick TIp.... Kwik Fit!!! Advantages: Quick, Easy, Cheap, Call centred you can understand! Discount! Disadvantages: None! Kwik Fit Insurance???? They actually do insurance??? YES!!! I was previously with elephant.co.uk (check out my review of them) and decided to do a little bit of a shop around to find a deal and a deal I did find. After going on an insurance comparison site (moneysupermarket.com and confused.com) Kwik Fit came up as one of the cheapest insurance providers.... so I was quite surprised to find out they actually do insurance let alone a good price. ... ...calling about my quote with kwik fit and how i feel about the price.... great! Didnt have to even use my own phone bill! and like cinderella at midnight i had insurance for my car within 10 mins and was fully covered. Bingo!!! I paid a deposit on the phone which was around £100... still cheaper then elephant.co.uk and I had all mypaperwork within a week. Extrememly efficient i thought.
