Advantages: Triumph badge, grunt, handling, image, build quality Disadvantages: will keep you out all weekend, prepare the divorce papers!!
Over the years I've owned middleweight Honda's, Kawasaki's, Yamaha's, KTM's and an Aprilia Mille. I judge a bike by whether it gets me out of bed before 8am at the weekends. The TriumphDaytona 675 certainly does, not just at the weekends either.
My Daytona is a 05 in red, the best colour in my opinion. I have to say that of all the bikes I've owned this is by far the best all rounder and its given me the biggest grin of the lot. Not to say that it does everything reasonably well like a CBR 600; the 675 everything exceptionally well, has the image, the heritage and the grin factor packed in as well!
In my early riding years I was a junky for the Japanese reliability, yet soon became bored whilst everyone seemed to own the same bike as me and have the same opinion that they'd probably picked up from Ride Magazine last week. I went ...

Advantages: Height, Fuel Economy Disadvantages: No centre stand
I bought this 2002 lime green Tiger in 2003. It was Triumph's own show bike and had 37000 on the clock.
It has been serviced by the local Triumph dealer and was in perfect condition.
It had colour coded panniers (a set of three) and heated grips already attached.
Firstly I am only 5'6" and I have always had large bikes. The Tiger is tall but so well balanced that it doesn't bother me that I can only get half of one foot down.
The fuel economy is fantastic. I managed 170 miles for £12. I make that 48mpg. This makes the theoretical maximum fuel range about 250 miles as it is a 24 ltr tank.
I have now run until the fuel light comes on at 212 miles, it was still at 48mpg. I didn't have the guts to run much further but I suggest the 250 maximum range is easily reachable if you need to do so.
The 955i (Daytona) engine is fantastic ...

Advantages: Big and Comfy..... Disadvantages: .......and heavy
The Tiger will get you noticed! (especially the green one)
Sat at a height to see over the hedgerows/traffic you will be in a commanding, and comfy, position. Not for the short of leg, though. It is a bit top-heavy so a small lean can take the bike past its "point of no return".
When you twist the throttle, the 955 triple responds eagerly, with plenty of torque on tap. Triumph do an aftermarket can to make the exhaust note a bit fruitier, but the performance isn't improved by much.
On the move the Tiger is great fun as you swing round the bends. It can certainly hustle along.
Put a pillion on the back and the fun isn't reduced, just shared. There is plenty of space for a pillion, but the rack can be awkward for gloved hands.
All in all its a great bike. Often found with heated grips and recent models with centre stand ...
