My Triumph Spitfire 4 of 6 Ciao Users found the following review helpful
Rating from Virgin 5 Stars ()

Advantages Cheap insurance and purchase price, an investment, easy to maintain, looks cool.

Disadvantages It's old and so you have to take it easy, you'll have to get breakdown cover.

Due to the recent spell of hot weather, I decided to start looking for new cars and convertibles in particular. I didn't have much to spend and was looking for something that I could sell at a later date and not loose too much money on.

After performing a number of searches on Autotrader.co.uk I found Triumph Spitfires to be the only choise for me.

They are very cheap - around £3000 for a decent one, are convertible, spares are easily available, insurance is cheap (£300) and they look very cool indeed - I get far more reaction from my roaring 1500cc than any Boxster or TT.

Mine is a '68 Mark 3 which is the rarer of the Spitfire range (mark 4 being more common). It is covered on chrome bits'n'peieces and is British Racing Green which I am very pleased with. The whole bonet lifts and so it is VERY easy to work on a tweak.

Coming to work in the mornings with the top down is a real dream - I love my Triumph.

Whats the score with your engine? Mk 3 Spitfires came with a 1296cc engine. The only Spit with a 1500 was the Spitfire 1500 sold from 1974 through 1980.
