Advantages Cheap, fun for your cat, your cat can play with it alone of with you

Disadvantages Feathers do get chewed and soggy and even pulled out of the pole, not that long lasting

As you will see from previous reviews we have rather a large collection of various cat toys and equipment but I guess that's part of having 3 cats. Anyway one toy we have in our collection is the Feathered Pole Cat Toy. OK so this is probably one of the simplest and more basic toys we hvae bought the girls but seems to be one that they like and will quite happily play with with you.

What Is It?
Well really the name of the product pretty much describes it. As I said it is quite a basic toy consisting of a long black handle made of strong durable plastic, the handle measures about 30 - 40cm long meaning it is plenty long enough to keep your hands away from you cats claws and teeth as they play with the toy. On the end of the handle are a lot of brightly coloured feathers of various different sizes, and that is basically it. A very simple cat toy but one that will excite your kitty.

There is no strict rules for how this toy should be used, it is not really long enough for you to drag behind you for your cat to chase however I sit in the middle of the floor with ours and drag it around me in circles while the cat follows it chasing after it around me. Of course I let them win which usually results in them trying to kill the feathers on the end (I'm sure they think is a real bird) We also have open banisters at our house, I often poke it through the slats in the banisters while one of the cats sits the other sides trying to catch it before I pull it back through my side again. The toy can also be used to poke under any object for your cat to chase and try to catch. The advert for the toy described it as a toy to let your cat use their hunting skills (or words to that effect) The Feathered Pole Toy could also be something that your cat plays with on their own, although ours seem to enjoy playing with it more if someone plays with them.

Prices
This toy really will not set you back much, ours cost just 99p from Amazon so was a real bargain, although I am sure similar toys can be purchased from various pet shops, although the price may very slightly.

One disadvantage with the Feathered Pole Cat Toy is it does not really last that long, after your cat has caught and killed the toy several times, the feathers do become chewed, slightly soggy, and one more than one occasion one of our cats has pulled a feather out of it so it is gradually becoming bald. You do need to keep an eye on the toy to ensure that your cat does not try to eat the feathers it has pulled out (I'm sure ours would) or that a rough edge has not been left where some of the feathers have been removed. So far ours is absolutely fine, some feathers have been pull/ chewed out of the toy but it is still in a good enough condition for the cats to play with it. I cannot imagine that this toy will last for as long as some of their others, however at only 99p I cannot complain, I would quite happily buy another once this one has worn out.

The Feathered Pole Cat Toy is one that I (and Poppy, Daisy and Layla) would recommend, it will give your cat hours of fun either alone or with you, it can be used in so many different ways, our cats never seem to get board of it. At 99p even if you cat did get board of playing with it you have not wasted a huge amount of money. The feathered end seems to drive the cats wild, the minute I get ours out their eyes go big and black and they crouch down just waiting to pounce on it. The toy is excellent at encouraging exercise for your cat and also at getting your cat to interact with you whilst playing. This is definitely a toy I would recommend.

Well reviewed, it always amuses me when pet toys come with the instruction "discard and replace toy if it shows ANY sign of damage" - they'd never have a toy more than five minutes! lol
