Guinea pigs are animals which have odd and peculiar minds especially mine. I have a male named Winston who is a small black guinea pig who never seems to grow and the other is named Mary who is huge and brown and white.

They are together in a cage and seem to get on superbly well and at times they look bored and inside the pet stores I was forever seeing little items to amuse them. I saw this bridge and it was something that appealed to me as it was a source of exercise for them both but a place to rest.

The bridge is designed so well because it enables the guinea pig or a small rodent depending on what you have to climb very easily. The bridge is done with 16 individual logs and they are attached together by a wire which is underneath.

The wire is pretty thin and there is to pieces of this wire which makes sure all the logs are attached together securely. The logs are not identical which again makes the item fun because they are all various shapes and have thicker parts compared to others and some are longer as well.

They are very strong because the guinea pigs I have although one is small the other is a larger one and quite heavy and this one manages to sit on top of this bridge without it giving way at all. I like the fact that there is strong wire which supports this weight.

In my cage I have for the guinea pigs this suits pretty well because they love to climb it and they use it even more if I put objects hanging from the roof of the cage such as a carrot and they have to use the bridge to travel up in order to retrieve their food treat.

They do sleep underneath it but the larger one can struggle because it is rather big in size and that is one problem if you have a larger guinea pig they might struggle to fit underneath this bridge as it is something which struggles to grow any longer.

I love the way it is pretty solid it never seems to fall over but it can be moved from side to side by the guinea pigs as it is not that heavy so they can position it where they wish if they wanted to. I think the smell attracts them as it does smell like wood as it is wood but the way the bark chips away and creates a new smell it makes them attracted to the bridge.

The size is about 28 x 16cms in size which is pretty good although price wise it might cause some people a shock at it is valued around £8 and to me it is high and needs to be lower. The overall weight of the item is around 195 grams and that is very light in weight.

They suggest you use these bridges for hamsters and mice but who says a guinea pig cannot use them or even a small rabbit depending obviously on the size of the animal in question.

There are other sizes around such as smaller ones which are around 22 x 11cms in size and they vary in prices so there are options for owners.
