I wouldn't call myself a health freak, but I enjoy a glass of fruit juice on a morning with my breakfast. I find such a drink very refreshing first thing in the day, and it is essential that regardless of what fruit juice it is it has to be ice cold. Strangely, I don't drink any type of fruit juice through the day, but the fresh burst of flavour and acidity is welcome at a time when I am generally tired and grumpy.

Tropicana is well-known for being a premium juice brand, and their range of high quality juices are always my first port of call when on the lookout for fruit juice on the weekly shop. Priced at around the £2.50 mark for a 1 litre bottle I would also say that Tropicana juices carry a premium price, though they can be found on offer, such as 2 for £4 with Asda, and 2 for £3.50 with Tesco. Waitrose have the best promotion currently with these cartons available for £1.52 each, so grab a bargain whilst you can! Saying this, I still think that Tropicana juices are worth the extra expense even when not on promotion, and the consistent high quality throughout the entire Tropicana range makes a refreshing change.

Tropicana Pure Premium Golden Grapefruit Juice comes in a smart 1 litre carton. This is the perfect size and shape for sitting alongside my carton of milk in the fridge door, and the screwcap is secure and allows easy dispensing of the juice when required. The first thing I notice when I remove the cap is the sharp acidity of the grapefruit. Upon pouring the juice you can see the Golden Grapefruit colour and this is the first sign of the quality we have here. Although the juice isn't thick in consistency it is best drunk in moderation. I will only have a small glass in the morning, and the strong grapefruit sharpness has plenty of kick to it on a morning. As this is a premium product it is also worth noting that this is not 'from concentrate' like a lot of juices are, but it is pure juice, though it doesn't contain the pulp you often find in some grapefruit juices. This took a bit of getting used to, as I would have hoped a premium juice would contain 'bits' to add texture and flavour. Unfortunately we have a fairly smooth pure grapefruit juice, though there is no compromise on the taste due to the lack of pulp.

When you buy a premium quality fruit juice you expect the very best, and Tropicana Pure Premium Golden Grapefruit Juice is no different. Made from 100% pure squeezed juice it certainly is the real deal. This drink is packed with vitamin C, which is great for maintaining a healthy immune system and aides the absorbsion of iron by your body. A 240ml serving contains 90 calories, providing 100% of your daily recommended intake of vitamin C. The one negative figure which stands out to me on the nutritional information is that each 240ml serving contains a whopping 17g of sugars! I assume these are all purely natural sugars which the grapefruit contains - the drink isn't sweet by any means and I wouldn't have thought any sugar would have been added to the juice. A close look at the ingredients list reveals a very short 'list' indeed, consisting of 100% pure grapefruit juice!

The taste is the major selling point in my opinion. It is great to know that it is a healthy option and is of a high quality, but the refreshing taste sells it to me and this is the reason I buy this particular flavour most weeks.
